The Challenge TechPath, which provides customized solutions for accountants, construction companies, utility providers, and various other sectors, faced significant challenges related to efficiency and profitability. Chris Adams, who became General Manager two years after the company's establishment in 1996, explains why TechPath decided to explore offshoring: “We prioritize cost savings due to the high expense of Australian labor and enhancing quality while managing our current workload. We have numerous additional tasks to tackle.” In response to increasing costs, TechPath concluded that offshoring was the ideal solution. The Solution After around a year of collaborating with an external consultant on a business strategy and participating in offshoring tours to the Philippines, TechPath partnered with Emapta for offshore staffing, which they found to be technology-oriented and suitable for their requirements. This move came at an opportune moment for the IT firm, as they had just implemented cloud-based telephone systems as part of their comprehensive corporate IT service, augmenting their existing hardware, internet, and communication services, as well as site protection and backup solutions. The initial offshore team comprised three members: this combination of technical and sales support roles at Emapta effectively supplements the company's 30-person team in Australia. The offshore Help Desk Specialists handle incoming support requests and perform server maintenance tasks. They oversee backups, manage antivirus software, supervise software upgrades, and assist in creating procedural documentation and knowledge bases. “One of our key offerings is managing services, which involves numerous service level agreements. With our team at the Emapta office, we can tackle tasks that we previously overlooked or didn’t do regularly,” Chris noted.
