MIGRATION AND OPERATIONS IN THE CLOUD
XDAM is a high-level Digital Asset Management system designed for enterprise use, offering the necessary performance, security, adaptability, and features to meet the demands of fast-paced production environments. Its flexible configuration allows various businesses to streamline their desired asset workflows. Users can upload, securely store, view, share, edit, rank, compare, assign metadata to, and annotate files of any type. Collaboration among teams is facilitated through standardized role-based permissions, automated asset security measures, notifications, and approval tracking across multiple roles. XDAM is designed for quick deployment and cost efficiency. Previously, XDAM operated its custom software on internally maintained server hardware, which led to high costs per client, challenges in maximizing application uptime, and difficulties in keeping backups current for disaster recovery.
HOW DIGITAL MAELSTROM ASSISTED
Digital Maelstrom recommended and executed a migration of all XDAM components and data to Amazon Web Services (AWS). AWS's capacity scalability based on real-time demand significantly cut costs related to unused capacity. Additionally, AWS provides tools and metrics that enhanced XDAM’s application uptime and preparedness for disasters. Following this successful transition, Digital Maelstrom began advising XDAM on software architecture choices, particularly regarding cloud-native features and IT security. Today, they rely on us for around-the-clock operational troubleshooting and occasionally request training on dev/ops skills.
