Summit Ridge Energy's previous website failed to adequately convey the scale and significance of the company’s transformative work. In collaboration with Design in DC, SRE aimed to surpass its competitors' online visibility by highlighting its extensive range of services and improving the website’s design and user experience. The objective was to encourage key users, such as corporations and investors, to connect with SRE directly. Summit Ridge Energy (SRE), led by a team of experts in renewable energy, is the largest owner-operator of community solar assets in the United States. By facilitating the funding and development of solar power plants across the country, SRE enhances the power grid, yielding environmental benefits, job creation, and affordable clean energy for underserved communities. Since 2017, SRE has successfully raised over $1 billion in capital and contributed to the construction of more than 200 solar plants.

Examit - Web Application & Custom LMS Platform

Examit

Examit, conceived by the company's CEO, is a contemporary educational platform designed for high school students to prepare for the AP physics exam at their own pace. The course, created by certified AP educators, consists of 34 easily accessible modules that adhere to the AP College Board’s essential requirements. Combining features of a Learning Management System (LMS) with a social forum, Examit transforms not only the way students learn AP physics but enhances the entire digital education experience. When we say we built Examit’s web application from scratch, we truly mean it. In the initial phase, we conducted a thorough discovery process to align the product with the company’s strategic objectives. This involved defining the platform's technical specifications, exploring third-party integrations, and optimizing internal workflows. The outcome was a scope document that outlined the web app’s foundation and served as a design and development blueprint for the following stages. In Phase 2, we built a tailored LMS that enables students to complete modules, monitor their progress, and share their achievements. What sets Examit’s learning approach apart is its focus on student interaction and community building. Our team innovatively combined a social media platform with an online learning environment—an unprecedented hybrid in the industry. This integration allows students to communicate, form study groups, and contribute to the Examit community by sharing solutions via a messaging forum. Additionally, a quick random question generator enables busy students to study on-the-go and earn a coveted "quizmaster badge." With the successful launch of the web application, we continue to foster Examit’s growth through advertising efforts and ongoing support.

Lateenz - Web Design, Dev, & Custom Illustrations

Lateenz is a digital magazine aimed at informing, engaging, and supporting Hispanic and Latinx youth. The website has two main objectives: to offer articles that resonate with underrepresented users and encourage them to share their own writings, while also curating resources for their educational and career goals, such as scholarships, competitions, and internships. It also assists parents and teachers who wish to enhance educational opportunities for all students and acts as a platform for potential advertisers. When the founders of Lateenz collaborated with Design in DC, they were launching a new magazine that needed an online presence. The intent was to attract Latinx middle and high school students with engaging content and to facilitate their contribution, community building, and access to educational and career resources. Additionally, Lateenz aimed to draw in advertisers to help cover website maintenance costs and fund awards for teen contributors. Using vibrant colors, engaging graphics, and dynamic typography, DDC crafted an appealing and user-friendly site. The content is well-organized into various categories, with the welcoming Teen Resources page offering numerous options. Each section—like Culture, Play, and Student Life—is filled with informative and inspirational articles. The outcome is a well-balanced blend of empowering content and positive messaging, tailored to the target audience with options in Spanish and English and numerous calls to action. DDC also developed a research tool for users to easily navigate available programs, scholarships, and internships, and continues to oversee SEO and site upkeep.
