When Xneelo reached out to Deqode, they were utilizing a PHP-based Monolith system. Their team recognized that this architecture was not scalable, but updating it proved to be quite complicated. They examined the code for functional units and encountered perplexing instances, such as their konsoleH function. Various teams were tasked with managing these isolated functions, requiring them to collaborate periodically, which led to additional builds and redundant testing. Furthermore, the system's complexity was exacerbated by 10 million lines of code, hundreds of thousands of classes, and thousands of packages. The solution lay in adopting Microservices, establishing a modular system with reusable components. Our team aimed to enhance Xneelo's performance by transitioning from the monolithic architecture to a microservices-based infrastructure. We developed a step-by-step plan to ensure that changes would be minimally disruptive for users. We began by separating backend services to confirm the functionality of AWS integration. Once that was successful, we proceeded to focus on services affecting the user interface, including configurations, payments, sign-up, and more. It was a challenge to ensure that the on-premise infrastructure could accommodate all the requests.
