Founded in 1977 by Gerald and Valerie Harries as a modest plant hire and haulage company, FH Gilman & Co evolved into Pembrokeshire's leading quarrying firm and a major civil engineering contractor in Wales. The company expanded by initiating ready-mix concrete production and acquiring Bolton Hill Quarry, securing pivotal contracts for local oil refineries, Llys y Fran, and key port facilities. Recognized as the region's largest aggregates producer of its time, the business maintains its family values, strong work ethic, and dedication to quality despite significant growth. In 2011, GD Harries acquired the Gilman business, which remains community-focused with substantial investment in local employment, training, and suppliers, preserving its hands-on approach and commitment to excellence.
