Over the past year, Compwiz Creations has been integral to the collaborative development of the InfoRange app, co-designed with pastoralist communities in Northern Kenya's Walda and Ngurunit regions. This initiative, in partnership with organizations like CRDD, DITSL, University of Nairobi, and University of Kassel, marries local knowledge of Borana and Rendille livestock keepers with advanced digital tools and machine learning to enhance rangeland management and animal health. The project emphasized research conducted *with* communities—not on them—through 24 iterative workshops, hands-on testing, and peer-assisted smartphone learning. Community members evolved from hesitant users to confident co-designers, highlighting the significance of participatory, context-driven innovation. The journey continues as InfoRange fosters ongoing engagement, learning, and adoption among pastoralists, marking a meaningful advancement in digital solutions for drylands.
