1750% new customers for an online baby store
Overview of the Collaboration: Dingis Baby Boutique joined forces with The Commerce People to assess their online retail channels and create a strategy to boost sales growth. The client sought assistance to enhance online sales for her baby product store, www.Dingisbaby.co.za, which offers a range of baby items and strollers. She had been managing her direct-to-consumer (DTC) website and Marketplace on her own, as well as handling her paid advertising campaigns. Unfortunately, she was not seeing a satisfactory return on her investment, having sold just 7 units between January and June 2022.
Goals: The aim was to increase online sales through Dingis Baby Boutique’s DTC website (built on WooCommerce) and their Takealot account.
Our Contribution: Firstly, we recommended transitioning her DTC site to WooCommerce to enable a more responsive design and improved SEO capabilities. We then integrated her WooCommerce site with the Marketplace and the Facebook & Google Ads platforms using Ignite, providing both the client and our team at The Commerce People with a comprehensive view of her eCommerce operations, including retail and advertising data. This enabled us to first test social media paid advertising (on channels such as Facebook, Instagram, and Audience Networks) and Google AdWords to boost sales on the DTC website. Following that, we implemented Sponsored Ads and Promotions on Takealot to direct traffic to the Dingis Baby Boutique product page. With the help of Ignite, we monitored paid ad performance in real-time, allowing our team to quickly optimize for improved Return on Ad Spend (ROAS) and Advertising Cost of Sale (ACOS) metrics.
Achievements in a 5-week period included:
- 137% increase in sales
- 1750% rise in new customers
- 57% growth in average basket value
- 196% increase in units sold
- 13.25 ROAS on all paid media ads
- 8% ACOS on overall paid media effectiveness
Client Feedback: The client expressed gratitude, stating that our efforts significantly benefited her small business by driving sales up across all social platforms, including Takealot, and appreciated the partnership with The Commerce People.
