Based in Long Beach, CA, our industrial design studio specializes in product design, user experience, and design strategy, fostering close collaboration with clients across diverse product categories such as packaging, furniture, lighting, and interiors. Founded by Chris, a Pratt Institute graduate with extensive experience leading global projects at Karim Rashid's studio and PepsiCo Design Center, our approach blends human-centric research with technical and business insights. We emphasize conveying brand language through form and function, utilizing methods from sketching and 3D modeling to prototyping and refinement. Committed to innovation and commercial success, we work alongside stakeholders and manufacturers to deliver award-winning, desirable products that resonate with target markets, supporting launches through packaging, rendering, and exhibitions.

Staze - Vacuum Sealed Jar

The Staze airtight vacuum-sealed jar keeps cannabis fresh and prolongs its shelf life. It creates a vacuum seal by pumping the cap until the air is expelled, which is indicated by a "clicking" sound after 1-3 pumps. To contain the smell, the cap includes a carbon filter that allows air to pass while blocking odors. Additionally, the jar is made from opaque food-grade polypropylene, which protects the cannabis from light—one of the main factors affecting its quality. The Staze jar features a ribbed design inspired by mushroom gills, enhancing grip and providing a premium look while ensuring a smooth connection between the jar and cap, preventing it from catching on anything during storage. The cap houses the technology and has a TPR overmold for added grip. The Staze jar can hold up to 1/4 ounce of cannabis flower (approximately 5 fl. oz.) and is available in three colors: blue, green, and purple. Client: Staze; Designed by: Chris Granneberg Studio.

Pepsi - Aluminum Bottle

In what ways is Pepsi's brand language expressed through its bottle design? After exploring numerous models and variations, we created a bottle shape that aligns with Pepsi's brand values while being suitable for manufacturing and filling within the PepsiCo system. When creating a product for a global market, several factors must be taken into account, including consumer preferences, food service requirements, and production capabilities. By closely collaborating with the brand design, marketing, R&D, and procurement teams, we crafted a design that met both Pepsi's business objectives and brand identity. Cat Person - Shippers with a second life

Cats adore boxes, and a brand like Cat Person should embrace this by creating an improved box design. Cat Person, a new direct-to-consumer brand supported by Harry’s Labs, aims to revitalize the outdated cat lifestyle market. Their focus extends beyond just providing top-quality food and lifestyle products; they also recognized the potential to enhance the customer experience by designing unique shipping boxes that honor the bond between cats and their owners. The shipping boxes had to meet essential requirements, including protection, sustainability, and ease of use. Understanding the opportunity to give these boxes a “second life,” Cat Person enlisted the help of an Industrial Designer. The initial step involved grasping the essence of the brand, which centers around the special connection between cats and humans. The boxes were designed with feline needs in mind, while also ensuring they could easily be transformed by their human companions. The shipping boxes take on various forms: 1. **Trial shipper - Paw Puzzler**: A custom mailer box featuring a perforated corrugated tray that can be converted into a box with holes for a cat's paw, allowing for a ball to be placed inside. 2. **Standard shipper - Cat Chalet**: A regular slotted container (RSC) with elongated dust flaps that can be assembled into a peaked roof. 3. **XL shipper - Cat Condo**: Another standard RSC, where the elongated dust flaps bend inward to create a "condo" with two rooms. The project was led by Industrial Designer Chris Granneberg, with creative direction by SLATE and illustrations by Paul Davis. The initiative has garnered several awards, including a Communication Arts Award, Pentawards Gold, Graphis Silver, Fast Company Innovation Awards, and The Dieline Gold.
