Connecting expatriate communities across North America with familiar flavors from home through e-commerce is our mission. We see e-commerce as the future across all sectors, so I was thrilled when the owner of a small corner store in Victoria, BC shared his desire to take his business online. What excited me even more was that this store offered traditional South African groceries rather than typical snacks like Gatorade and Lays chips. Selling food online presents challenges—it's often heavy, fragile, perishable, and most people are close to a physical grocery store. I recognized that we faced significant hurdles; even Amazon has struggled to break into the grocery e-commerce space. However, reflecting on our journey from those early days, Aubergine Foods stands as a powerful example of effective e-commerce and thoughtful, user-centric web design. It represents a blend of culture and user experience. From the outset, it was evident that creating a culturally attuned user experience was essential. Our aim was to evoke the feeling of shopping in the large grocery stores of South Africa that customers remember fondly from their childhood. I sought to evoke nostalgia, traditional South African culture, and a sense of professionalism akin to shopping at major retailers like Amazon, Walmart, or Woolworths. I believe the thoughtful combination of colors, imagery, and wording resulted in a UI and UX design that achieved this goal.

Delivering top-notch virtual and in-person tutoring services is a passion for us. This initiative is particularly meaningful to us because, with increasing class sizes and both parents often working full-time, many children can easily fall behind academically. Our client addresses this issue perfectly! Before we collaborated, they were managing their business through manual processes, relying heavily on pen and paper. We believed there was a much more effective approach to support students and significantly enhance revenue. User Interface To deliver exceptional tutoring services both online and in-person, we streamlined the process for clients. Booking a personal tutoring session is incredibly straightforward and requires just a few clicks once a user arrives on the website. Users can easily select the time and location for their sessions. User Experience The education sector is becoming increasingly competitive, making it costly to attract new clients, especially in such a crowded market. Therefore, we aimed to create an experience that keeps clients engaged, fostering repeat bookings and ongoing services. After each session, students, or more commonly their parents, have the option to receive homework that will be graded afterward. Once the grading is completed and returned, they receive personalized recommendations for their subsequent session!

Project Capital is a Canadian-based commodity trading advisor that offers scientific solutions for capital markets. Our Mission: How can you create a memorable website for a highly regulated, intricate, and finance-related business? By incorporating elements that provide a 'WOW' factor, such as interactive animations, built-in presentations, and engaging copy that resonates with visitors. Color Palette: The Shark Grey background combined with a rich Daisy Bush purple creates a unique aesthetic that makes elements stand out while ensuring content is easily readable. The Rain Forest Green accents add a traditional financial element that complements the overall color scheme. Typography: The use of bold, shadowed headings, well-contrasted body text, and three distinct text sizes creates a clear hierarchy, guiding visitors on which text is most significant. User Interface: Professionalism, Experience, Fintech. The primary goal of this project was to build an online presence that positioned the clients as experts in their field. They desired a website that could convey complex information about who they are and what they do, facilitate contact, and host dynamic blog content. Content Management System: A user-friendly content management system that handles all aspects of content creation, allowing the client to focus solely on creating. Whether it’s a blog post, a quick update, or new photos, the process is streamlined into just 2 steps: Create the content in the easy-to-navigate backend developed with Webflow, click post, and watch as the content is automatically color-coded and organized within the website's various sections.
