Securing a Software Company’s Future Against Disaster

Upon a recommendation from a local business, PRA reached out to Jeff Lingle at BNC’s Denver office. Lingle sent two consultants to evaluate and prioritize the situation. Within a week, they had formulated a plan to tackle the disaster recovery issues, along with specific recommendations to control server sprawl and enhance operations. The BNC team promptly finished setting up a new on-site server and consolidated multiple physical and virtual servers. BNC decided to implement VEEAM Backup and Replication for disaster recovery, aligned with PRA's use of VMware for its virtual servers. This solution ensured continuous backups of PRA’s source code, build and test environments, and other IT systems. After confirming the backup and recovery setup, BNC removed unnecessary servers, effectively organizing an unwieldy Active Directory among other tasks. They now offer monthly on-site visits and a help desk to resolve ongoing IT support challenges.

After assessing Idea Grove's issues with their current solution, BNC developed a new strategy. They suggested implementing a cloud-based online server platform that also maintained a current local copy. This setup would enable the staff to quickly access large media files locally while ensuring the safety of off-site backups. The cloud solution also allowed for remote access and sharing of their work from any location. BNC transitioned Idea Grove’s files to the new system, established flexible and customizable permissions, and provided training for the staff. Furthermore, BNC installed a Mac-compatible server and network, along with enterprise-level file-sharing software. This new software facilitated seamless collaboration among writers and designers on projects, eliminating the need to email files back and forth. It also included version control, which was a significant requirement for Idea Grove.
