Think Bars: Connecting Fashion to Food
Think Thin Nutrition Bars
**Challenge**: Our goal was to be the first to actively promote thinkproducts (www.thinkproducts.com), a well-established company with a 13-year history and $20 million in annual revenue, which already had a presence in major grocery, drug, and mass retail chains. We aimed to tie the company's legacy to a compelling reason for customers to buy the products. Our objective was to distinguish the company, its products, and its founder by creating a unique and memorable identity for the target audience. This involved establishing a cohesive visual and verbal communication style, and improving the connection between the various products, which all featured significantly different packaging with no clear links to the parent company, their names, or their creation stories.
**Strategy**: Leveraging the founder’s experience as a model, we revamped the marketing strategy to include trendy new packaging, cause-related marketing initiatives, events, and publicity efforts. This included a partnership with the Susan G. Komen Foundation and the introduction of the “ThinkPink” bar, along with a ThinkVitality Fashion Show and a CEO Summit at ExpoWest. We secured sponsorships from organizations such as Whole Foods and Cedars Sinai Women’s Medical Center, and collaborated with eco-couture designer Deborah Lindquist to create a gown made from thinkproducts wrappers, showcased on the Reuters Board in Times Square, New York.
**Results**: In the first year, our efforts yielded a remarkable 7,000% return on investment and established a celebrity sampling program that attracted over 25 high-profile names, including Cameron Diaz, Ben Kingsley, Donna Karan, and Jack Osbourne. Our campaign received extensive media coverage in outlets like Associated Press, the Wall Street Journal, E! Online, the New York Times, and the Los Angeles Times. We also shared our products with VIPs at major entertainment events like the Emmys and Grammys, implementing a new branding model that introduced entirely refreshed packaging, aesthetics, messaging, and storytelling. Ultimately, these initiatives led to the company being acquired by Glanbia for $217 million.
