Client: Tech Mahindra Challenge: Developing a Dependable Real-Time Tablet Application for Drilling Personnel in the Oil and Gas Sector The project's challenge was to create a real-time tablet application for the drilling teams operating on oil and gas rigs. The app aimed to facilitate safe and dependable real-time workflows for the staff, even in areas with poor or no network connectivity. The primary obstacle was to establish a robust, military-grade real-time data system capable of providing reliable information under all conditions, including offline scenarios. This necessitated the creation of a system that could function without interruption, even in difficult environments like offshore drilling sites. Solution: Tailored Tablet Mobile Application with Real-Time Data Synchronization To tackle the challenge of developing a dependable real-time tablet application for drilling personnel in the oil and gas industry, the development team opted to create a customized tablet app using the Kony framework. MS SQL Server was utilized to facilitate reliable workflow execution and data synchronization. To ensure effective data transmission even when network connectivity was poor or absent, the team developed a custom persistent real-time communication component using Socket.io and SQLite. This was integrated with Kony's built-in offline data synchronization feature, resulting in a robust solution for real-time data communication.
