UC Berkeley's Othering & Belonging Institute

The Othering & Belonging Institute at UC Berkeley focuses on promoting equality for everyone, emphasizing our shared connections and our ties to the environment. It serves as a key platform uniting researchers, community organizers, policymakers, and other stakeholders for collaborative research and analysis aimed at fostering a more equitable society. The Institute’s website required a redesign and an upgrade to the latest version of Drupal, along with improvements to several associated projects. We created a vibrant new design for the Othering & Belonging Institute that is aesthetically appealing, exceptionally clean, user-friendly for navigating extensive content, and showcases compelling visuals related to the Institute's initiatives. Additionally, the Institute hosts various unique programs and large conferences that were previously hosted on external sites, so we developed a flexible and robust microsite system within the main website to serve as the new platform for these special projects and events.

UCB Political Science

The Political Science department at UC Berkeley is recognized as one of the leading institutions in the United States and worldwide for studying politics. Black Antelope previously designed, built, and managed the website, but as the department's requirements have changed and mobile technology has transformed Internet usage, a redesign was necessary. The updated UCB Political Science website features a sleek, modern aesthetic, is user-friendly, and is highly responsive on mobile devices. Course and event information is automatically retrieved from central campus APIs and can be modified on the Drupal site if needed. Regarding accessibility, the site now complies with ADA WCAG 2.0 standards, ensuring it is as inclusive as possible for individuals with disabilities, while also meeting university guidelines. Drupal is particularly well-suited for managing structured content and relationships. A prominent example on the Political Science site is the link between courses and faculty members. When courses are imported, the system automatically establishes connections with the relevant faculty. This allows users to easily navigate to a faculty member's page when exploring courses and similarly to view all current and upcoming courses associated with a faculty member from their profile page.

SPCAI International

SPCA International is a global non-profit organization that assists local animal welfare groups and initiatives around the world, including shelters, dog and cat rescue operations, and wildlife rehabilitation centers. They also offer important educational resources to empower individuals to enhance the lives of their pets and animals in need. SPCAI approached Black Antelope for a website redesign aimed at optimizing mobile access, completely restructuring the site's information framework, and creating a more user-friendly content management system for their team. We collaborated closely with SPCAI to reimagine and simplify the site’s information architecture and to establish a visual style that effectively showcases the organization’s achievements. The outcome is a visually appealing new website built on WordPress, featuring an improved content layout that is easy for the team to manage and user-friendly for visitors seeking information. Key updates include * Elementor page templates that enable the SPCAI team to easily create and manage content with minimal need for developer assistance * Migration of content from Concrete5 to WordPress while retaining and enhancing features of the existing Concrete5 system * Development of a Salesforce-based CRM integrated with the site * Creation and configuration of new email templates in Pardot.
