Celebrate diversity. Eurovision 2017

Eurovision 2017

The aim of honoring diversity builds upon the theme from 2016: "Come Together," and aligns with Eurovision's core values of inclusivity and representation of countries across Europe and beyond. It focuses on celebrating our shared experiences as well as our unique differences, all through the power of music. Uniting Europe, Bead after Bead, we sought to create a symbol that reflects Ukrainian culture and the mission of Eurovision. We opted for the design of a traditional Ukrainian necklace, with each bead representing a participating country in the contest. Together, these beads create an enchanting music celebration. Although inspired by a traditional Ukrainian motif, we enhanced it with a contemporary design featuring bright patterns. Each bead is uniquely designed, symbolizing the truth that while we are all different, we come together annually for a wonderful cause. For colors, we selected red and black as our main brand hues. These two traditional Ukrainian colors were modified for television, resulting in Cold Black and Vibrant Red. These colors were tailored for screen presentation, providing a striking visual contrast that aligns well with Eurovision's essence. MacPaw

MacPaw is a Ukrainian IT company whose products are utilized by 36 million users around the globe. Most MacBook or iMac owners are likely familiar with their Clean MyMac and Gemini applications. However, the issue is that while people recognize the apps, they often don’t know about MacPaw itself. The company has developed excellent applications, but they lacked a strong underlying concept. We wanted users to appreciate the apps not just for their performance but also because they come from MacPaw, so that with every new launch, people would think, "Oh, they’ve released something new – I must try it!" Our task was to uncover the ‘magic features’ of MacPaw that resonate with its users. While we may not be changing the world, we are making a difference in the lives of individual users. It seems that companies today feel pressure to aim for global impact, which can seem impractical, but this isn’t the case. While many are focused on global issues, MacPaw is enhancing the experience of each user. When we remove boredom from tasks, people will engage in more meaningful activities, and if we can minimize dullness, individuals will be more inclined to tackle important responsibilities. Optimizing your computer becomes much simpler with just one click and an intuitive interface. People will appreciate practical tasks if we can make them easier and even enjoyable. This concept is the foundation of our communication strategy at MacPaw: Make useful unboring. "Unboring" captures not only the essence of MacPaw’s products but also the culture within their office, including the people and their values. Importantly, "unboring" goes beyond merely being "fun" and "cheerful". "Make useful unboring" means transforming essential tasks to be easier, simpler, quicker, more aesthetically pleasing, and more human-centric. Kateryna Drobot, MacPaw’s Brand Manager, noted that Banda didn't create something superficial. Instead, their team spent a week at our office, fully immersing themselves in our daily routines and company culture. This experience allowed them to recognize that "Make useful unboring" truly reflects our approach to thinking, working, and creating.

Ukraine NOW

Ukraine NOW is the largest international marketing initiative launched by the Ukrainian government in 2018. Its primary aim is to enhance and promote Ukraine's image globally, boost tourism, and attract foreign investments. The campaign was prepared with the involvement of a 27-member expert committee that gathered extensive promotional materials and data to develop a brand showcasing Ukraine's appeal for tourism, cultural exchange, and business opportunities. Why is a national brand necessary? A survey conducted in collaboration with the British government explored how Ukraine is perceived abroad. The results indicated that Ukraine was frequently linked to terms such as 'corruption,' 'revolution,' and 'military conflict.' Those who had never visited the country primarily viewed Ukrainians as reserved, aggressive, and intolerant, largely influenced by media portrayals. Obviously, such perceptions are not helpful for drawing in tourists and investors. Conversely, individuals who had visited Ukraine often praised its hospitality, scenic beauty, culture, and architecture. Consequently, in order to reshape its international image and attract more visitors, Ukraine recognized the need for rebranding.
