Braathens Regional Airlines

B3 has maintained a strong emphasis on modernization and ensuring high availability as it began managing and developing the BRA airline's system. Booking an airline ticket involves multiple factors, including checking availability and flight times, comparing prices, and securing a ticket swiftly and easily via computer or mobile device. Consequently, airline websites must meet high standards for functionality, seamless integration with various supporting systems, and constant availability. Each year, approximately 2.2 million passengers fly with BRA (Braathens Regional Airlines), a significant number of whom are business travelers, resulting in very high availability expectations. Timely flights are essential, but having a reliable and always accessible website for straightforward ticket bookings is equally crucial. The booking platform is a key component of the customer experience for all airlines and can enhance customer loyalty by simplifying the travel process. BRA has a comprehensive system portfolio to facilitate this. Their website comprises multiple components, including a user-facing section managed with a CMS (Umbraco), as well as backend technology based on .NET and databases. All systems are interconnected, including BRAbank and payment systems that access customer profiles. Additionally, there is a vital integration with Amadeus, the travel industry’s own system, which provides BRA with the booking flow after trip searches. This environment is complex, necessitating high standards for both development and administration, along with their integrations. B3 partnered with BRA at the end of 2018, and this ongoing project includes continuous improvements and developments driven by various organizational needs and customer feedback.

B3 Microsoft 365 adoption project

B3 initiated a project to implement Microsoft 365 solutions for a global manufacturing company with over 22,000 employees across four continents. The organization comprised various separate group companies and operational units, each exhibiting different levels of technological advancement and varying familiarity with IT tools and cloud environments. With over 15,000 active licenses, our team was tasked with developing both the adoption strategy and operational activities, focusing on creating business solutions, such as work automation applications and systems that facilitate collaboration among distributed teams. This included data migration, enhancing network infrastructure performance, and providing online and onsite training in Polish, English, and Spanish on cloud solutions (OneDrive, SharePoint), collaboration tools (Teams and Yammer), and coordinating training sessions with HR and IT departments across more than a dozen countries. A significant aspect of our efforts was the implementation of solutions through PowerApps, PowerBI, and PowerAutomate, which positively affected organizational processes. The B3 team also consulted with the business to improve various processes using technology and managed communications related to these initiatives, including producing a bi-weekly newsletter for the entire organization. All activities were conducted using Agile methodology. The project's goal was to standardize the working environment, regardless of department or location, thereby enhancing productivity while improving information security and employee satisfaction. Throughout each project phase, we achieved a substantial increase in the use of Office 365 tools, improved communication, and collaboration on shared tasks. B3's efforts led to greater employee efficiency and reduced unnecessary expenses.

B3 team took part in a resource migration project

The B3 team participated in a migration project for an Active Directory forest resource for an international financial organization. This effort involved close collaboration with both local and international teams of architects and engineers. B3's primary responsibilities included analyzing business applications, optimizing processes with in-house tools (PowerShell scripts), and designing a virtualization environment based on the VMware vSphere platform across two independent centers (primary and backup), all managed centrally under a unified Active Directory forest. Subsequent project phases included analyzing and optimizing a storage solution using NetApp clusters, designing an active computing center switching solution with VMware vCenter Site Recovery Manager and asynchronous replication via SnapMirror, and creating a virtualization environment monitoring solution using vRealize Operations Manager and vRealize LogInsight. A key later stage involved developing a NetApp infrastructure monitoring system with the NetApp OnCommand Unified Manager and integrating this monitoring system with the existing organizational systems while configuring and optimizing Microsoft environment monitoring through System Center Operations Manager. The project was complex and executed under tight deadlines due to the necessity of launching resources on the new infrastructure without delay. Ultimately, the project was completed successfully, and the systems were launched in the new environment.
