**Challenge**: The client, a cryptocurrency trading firm, aimed to develop an internal software tool that could source and analyze order books and trades from various cryptocurrency exchanges and products. The data generated by this tool would be utilized to build machine learning models that would inform their trading strategies. They requested a solution that was concurrent, extensible, and scalable. **Solution**: A concurrent sourcing framework was designed to gather order books and trades, enabling the simultaneous and real-time retrieval of data from multiple cryptocurrency exchanges. The framework was built to facilitate easy expansion by allowing the addition of new exchanges, capable of sourcing data from both WebSockets and REST APIs, and included status and notification features. Special attention was given to documentation, ensuring that the client’s software developers could quickly understand, enhance, and contribute to the codebase.

Git Large File Storage Solution

Challenge Version control systems are highly effective for managing collections of information, such as codebases. With the introduction of Git Large File Storage (Git LFS), this capability can now also accommodate large file versioning. This development is beneficial, as it allows users to integrate Git LFS with platforms like GitHub and other source control systems; however, files are usually stored on the servers of these providers. Our goal was to host our own Git LFS server and utilize various storage backends, such as Google Cloud Storage, Amazon S3, or even our local filesystem. This setup is particularly advantageous for communities that prefer to use a revision system while maintaining greater control over the origin and management of large files, such as digital artists, game developers, machine learning specialists, and data scientists. Solution An internal product was developed that consists of an implementation of a Git LFS Server capable of handling requests from Git LFS Clients and adhering to the Git LFS API. It offers the ability to store files in a block storage solution (like Google Cloud Storage or Amazon S3) or on the local filesystem. The system is designed to facilitate the easy creation of new plugins for additional file storage solutions. With minimal configuration, clients can transition their existing or new Git LFS workflows to this system. Future features will include options for on-premise deployment and support for file encryption.
