A partnership between Human Made and Angry Creative addressed the urgent need for a new CMS for Plan International, which was struggling with an outdated Drupal platform that was heavily customized and no longer updatable. They decided to transition to WordPress and the Altis DXP platform. Angry Creative was tasked with implementing this new solution, along with several Qala components. To facilitate an effective editorial workflow for Plan International's numerous local editors across the globe, it was crucial to establish a system with varying levels of authority and control, thereby minimizing the reliance on an additional digital team. With over 50 local sites and as many as 200 local editors, there were significant demands for language management, especially since the old system was fragmented across multiple platforms and hosting services. In collaboration with Human Made, the project also focused on developing a user experience and design that reflected Plan International’s vision, values, and requirements. The outcome of this partnership is a sustainable multisite network of local sites featuring optimized editorial workflows and effective language management, designed to support the organization’s global charitable efforts.

Beano.com

Enhancing development speed with open source Beano.com is a thoroughly analyzed website that operated on a custom platform requiring updates for increased flexibility and cost efficiency. The Beano.com team aimed to preserve years of successful research that yielded an outstanding site, but they also envisioned rebuilding the entire platform in WordPress. To facilitate the migration of their extensive content library, innovative processing methods were necessary. For instance, they needed to sanitize, process, and upload several gigabytes of images, along with various content formats like quizzes and games. Custom Gutenberg blocks were developed to maintain the site’s functionality, user experience, and design, ensuring editorial flexibility. This was a significant challenge due to the complexity of the required custom blocks. Another essential element of the Beano.com experience was the related content feature. Our team collaborated with Beano.com to reverse engineer the algorithm for related content from the previous site and recreate it in WordPress, utilizing taxonomies. Among all project objectives, preserving the interactive whoopee cushion was of utmost importance. 😉

The project begins to take form After an initial workshop with Stutterheim, it became evident that we would create a new website using WordPress as the content management system (CMS). The aim of this new site was to develop a user experience that made website management straightforward and, leveraging Stutterheim's products, encouraged customers to make purchases. We opted to emphasize Stutterheim’s unique selling propositions (USPs) and customer recommendations to design a website that could drive sales while also enhancing the brand image. A global shopping cart With Qala Global Cart, we provided Stutterheim with an effective and innovative way to enhance the customer experience when switching languages or markets. Qala Global Cart enables customers to retain all items in their shopping cart while navigating between different local websites within an international network, increasing the likelihood of completing orders in their preferred currency. A robust solution Before assisting Stutterheim in transitioning to WooCommerce, they were using Magento as their platform, which posed several user experience challenges. The switch to WooCommerce offers Stutterheim a platform with a high level of functionality that is less complex and easier for users to learn. Additionally, we ensured integration of WooCommerce with the ERP system NaviPro, which was partly why Stutterheim selected us as their project partner. With the combination of WordPress and WooCommerce's open-source architecture, Stutterheim now enjoys improved CMS capabilities and complete control over their codebase, enhancing their ability to make future modifications and adaptations.
