Leading the Charge for Green Energy Ownership
Ripple Energy is an innovative platform for clean energy ownership, allowing individuals to co-own large wind farms and solar parks. Our task was to effectively convey our unique yet complex offering to media outlets that primarily focus on immediate, cost-effective savings for their audience amid the ongoing cost-of-living crisis. We adopted a two-pronged strategy:
1. We established an engaging press office program that informed the media and, consequently, the public about Ripple Energy, aligning with key trends and discussions while providing consistent news and features.
2. We launched a brand campaign aimed at sparking a broader dialogue about green energy ownership, promoting the brand within mainstream conversations.
To enhance brand visibility and position Ripple Energy as a leader in the green energy ownership movement, we aimed to foster dialogue and tangible conversations. We sought to overturn the notion that Britain is merely a nation of NIMBYs (Not In My Back Yard)—individuals who resist local developments—and instead highlighted the emergence of YIMBYs (Yes In My Backyard), a growing faction of individuals who support green energy initiatives. We introduced an initiative called Generation YES, encouraging members of the public to endorse renewable energy projects. Participants could show their support through Ripple Energy’s website, which featured an interactive map displaying the increasing backing for renewables across the UK.
Throughout 2023, we placed Ripple Energy at the forefront of the crowded energy dialogue, achieving 74 media mentions across television and national outlets, with a total reach surpassing 522 million. Our Generation YES campaign significantly boosted brand awareness, generating 23 media mentions in prominent national and regional publications, with a total reach exceeding 338 million. This effort opened avenues for discussions with influential editors in energy and business who had previously underestimated Ripple Energy's voice and national influence.
