World Skydiving Day: Global Event PR Launch
The Australian Parachute Federation: PR Campaign
The launch of the inaugural World Skydiving Day received significant national and international media attention, including coverage on live breakfast television.
**THE BRIEF**
On July 13, 2024, the Australian Parachute Federation (APF) participated in the first World Skydiving Day, joining skydiving organizations from the U.S., Canada, and the UK in celebrating this global event. The objective was to unite skydivers of all levels, enhance the sport's visibility, and aim for a world record for the highest number of skydives completed in a single day. The APF partnered with Adoni Media to implement a PR campaign across Australia, focusing on securing media coverage that highlighted Australia's involvement, celebrated the achievements of the skydiving community, and promoted skydiving as an exciting and accessible sport.
**THE RESULTS**
World Skydiving Day 2024 was a remarkable success, resulting in over 100 media reports across television, radio, print, and online platforms. The campaign reached an estimated audience of 2.8 million people and generated an Advertising Space Rate (ASR) value of $781,029. Adoni Media's strategic approach secured national coverage, featuring segments on prominent breakfast shows like The Today Show and Sunrise. The campaign was bolstered by effective on-the-ground media coordination, with Adoni’s crew handling interview requests and ensuring seamless coverage at various drop zones nationwide. Australia made a notable contribution with 2,726 jumps, including 509 first-time tandem jumpers, marking a high point in the worldwide celebration. The APF’s participation in World Skydiving Day not only highlighted the solidarity and enthusiasm of the global skydiving community but also garnered extensive media exposure for the sport, fostering increased participation and awareness. APF CEO Stephen Porter commended the campaign, stating, “This is just fabulous—thanks for being a part of this. I’m just amazed at the results.”
