VR Bike Ride for Scientific Research

The application was developed as a scientific tool to allow our client to compare the performance of the selected group. These tests aim to assess the human experience of using a VR headset while cycling, the VR headset alone, and cycling without the headset. Each test session lasts approximately 20 minutes and can be conducted with or without a stationary bike. The app collects data for future analysis, and upon completion of the session, a .csv file is generated, comprising detailed information about the entire study, updated every 0.5 seconds. The gameplay involves a 20-minute VR bike ride through a city environment, with two gameplay modes available: 1. Passive Mode: Users wear VR goggles and use controllers to navigate, needing to rhythmically press the trigger buttons on each controller to maintain their speed. 2. Active Mode: Users wear VR goggles and ride a stationary bike, simulating cycling within the app. They have the option to change gears to adjust resistance as desired. At the beginning of the 20-minute session, the facilitator sets the target speed that the user must maintain. If the user falls below the minimum speed or goes too fast, audio cues will alert them. Our design and development teams encountered several challenges, including time limitations and technological hurdles. We aimed to achieve a graphical style reminiscent of Studio Ghibli and addressed the issue of motion sickness by incorporating visual effects. Additionally, the team needed to integrate various elements and plugins from past projects into a unified framework. To tackle these challenges, the team prioritized technological optimization and the creation of an expansive virtual world. Through dedication and innovation, we successfully met our objectives and developed fully functional VR software.

Multiplayer VR Arena

The project comprised two components: ArcViz and Arena. Both utilized the same foundational technology—a VR arena equipped with motion tracking. ArcViz allows users to explore architectural designs in a virtual reality setting at a 1:1 scale. Our client aimed to provide professionals in the architectural field with a cutting-edge tool for presenting their designs. The concept was to leverage virtual reality to create an immersive experience and incorporate practical tools within the environment. With VR and motion tracking, users can move around the virtual space, making presentations feel much more realistic and intuitive. The client's objective was to commercially offer virtual reality sessions. Arena, on the other hand, is a VR shooter game that supports up to six players and is designed for both player versus player (PVP) and player versus environment (PVE) competition, set within a physical arena. This setup enhances the experience, making it more authentic than typical VR shooters. The business model aimed to generate revenue by selling gaming sessions to users.

VR Leadership Training

The VR soft skills training takes place in a submarine and a helicopter during rescue operations. To conduct this training, seven participants are required—five managing the submarine and two operating the helicopter. The application features three distinct missions along with tutorials. A key feature of this project is its unique communication mechanic. Initially, trainees are only aware of their roles within their vehicle and do not know the capabilities of others. Therefore, the only way to successfully complete a mission is through communication, allowing trainees to learn about each other's positions and capabilities. This design emphasizes teamwork, as individuals rely heavily on one another. Even after submarine trainees learn how to collaborate, they must maintain effective communication with the helicopter crew, as each mission requires their joint effort. This training program has been developed for the Meta Quest 2 headset, and we are currently working on adapting it for the Pico Neo 3 platform to expand its accessibility. The development utilized technologies and tools such as the Unity engine, C#, and Photon, while our Art Team primarily used Blender and Substance Painter to create custom 3D models and environments.
