What business plan development firms produce
The finished plan usually runs from an executive summary through company description, market analysis, competitive positioning, products and pricing, marketing and sales plan, operations, management team and milestones, to a financial section. That last part carries the most weight: a monthly and annual model covering revenue build, cost of sales, payroll, operating expenses, cash flow, balance sheet, loan or investment needs and sensitivity cases.
Firms adjust the emphasis to the reader. A bank or SBA lender wants repayment capacity, collateral and the owner's experience. An investor wants market size logic, unit economics and the path to the next round. A visa officer wants job creation, investment at risk and a credible operating business. An internal strategic plan focuses on targets, owners and resource allocation.
Work is sold as a fixed-fee plan, a financial model on its own, a plan refresh for an existing business, or an advisory package that adds pitch preparation and lender introductions. Most projects begin with an intake questionnaire and interview, then research, a first draft, a review call and revisions.
