The Challenge Aberdeen FC had no prior experience with paid Facebook advertising and sought to determine if the platform could help boost season ticket sales for the 2017/2018 football season. In the past, they had depended on traditional advertising methods like billboards and newspapers. Our Approach Before initiating the campaign, we incorporated relevant tracking codes on the afc.co.uk website to monitor the customer journey from seeing an advertisement to purchasing a season ticket. This enabled us to identify which sales were directly influenced by our campaign. We then divided the campaign into two main segments: The combination of these segments allowed us to reach a broad audience while also encouraging interested individuals to make purchases. Results The club sold at least 808 tickets directly attributed to the campaign, generating £200,000 in revenue. The cost per purchase was £1.24 (calculated from 808 sales). With the annual season ticket video, we engaged over 255,000 people, of which 200,000 watched it. As a result, the club achieved the highest number of season ticket sales in its history.
