Integrated Agile Testing & QA Automation

Unknown

**Client Requirement** The goal is to enhance systemic quality assurance (QA) testing to guarantee product excellence. This includes conducting UI/UX testing, system regression testing, data calculation testing, mobile testing, validating customer campaign deliveries, and ensuring compliance with third-party standards. There is a need to implement software testing automation alongside existing manual testing to boost both productivity and accuracy. **Product Challenge** The challenge involves tracking and integrating data from various sources to accurately calculate revenue from individual customer stays and allocate points accordingly. A QA plan is needed, featuring a custom test automation hybrid framework integrated with project management tools to optimize the duration of full regression testing. **Xperity Solution** Xperity improved test coverage and quality by employing agile methodologies that enhanced manual, automation, database, and API testing methods. Test scripts for various browsers utilize Selenium WebDriver and SQL queries to verify back-end data. Each sprint cycle incorporates Smoke Testing, Functional Testing, Retesting, Regression Testing, and Database Testing. **Implementation Approach** We launched extensive testing modules, including regression, UI/UX, data calculation, mobile, and third-party compliance testing, using the following technologies: **Manual Testing:** Smoke Testing, Functional Testing, Compatibility Testing, Regression Testing, Cross-Browser Testing, Ad hoc Testing. **Automated Testing:** Visual Studio – 2015 and above, Selenium WebDriver – 3.141.0, NUnit – 3.12.0, Extent Reports – 3.1.3, AutoIt – 3.3.14.5, Excel Data Reader – 3.6.0. **API Testing:** Swagger, Katalon Studio – 7.5.5. **Database Testing:** MS SQL Server – 2016. **Mobile Testing:** SmartBear CrossBrowser, Lambda Test. **Results** - Reduced time to market by adopting an automated testing approach. - Identified and resolved various functional defects and performance issues. - Streamlined repetitive tasks through automation tools and frameworks. - Improved data security by validating encryption mechanisms.

F&B Management and Dynamic Menu Planner App

Unknown

**Client Overview** The client required the development of an easy-to-use online suite of menu planning applications, transitioning from an outdated Classic ASP web application. The main features requested included the capability to create customizable hotel portals, develop menus for different property entities, and manage in-house food and beverage (F&B) orders. Effective data migration was crucial during the implementation phase. **Challenges** The existing system had technical limitations, necessitating a complete redevelopment using modern technologies. New functionalities needed to incorporate Single Sign-On (SSO) for all users, management of web templates, order tracking, and comprehensive report generation. It was also essential to adhere to strict content security policies and web security standards. **The Xperity Solution** Xperity provided a comprehensive enterprise solution that facilitates web-based F&B management. This solution allows staff to organize, explore, and create menus, submit orders directly to hotel personnel, and present branded online menus for customers. The applications are designed to be highly secure, feature-rich, responsive, and capable of supporting globalization and localization. Additionally, they include a robust reporting module that generates aggregated reports for each property. **Implementation Process** Xperity employed an agile development methodology to deliver a customizable, web-based menu planning tool for the client. The steps included: - Conducting manual testing and requirement analysis with the client. - Researching available libraries to minimize costs. - Refactoring existing processes. - Implementing user authentication and authorization. - Enabling Single Sign-On (SSO) through OpenID Connect. - Designing the user interface with a JavaScript framework, featuring tools like Vue.js, TinyMCE, DataTables, Select2, and SweetAlert. - Migrating the database using Entity Framework 6.1 and LINQ for a secure and automated data transfer. - Utilizing Microsoft ASP.NET MVC-5 with RAZOR and C# for server-side technology.

Protocol Translator Interface / API Protocol Micro

Unknown

**Client Requirement** Glookast required an integration between its "Gloobox Capturer," a solution for ingesting baseband video and audio, and a third-party automation controller utilizing a licensed API protocol. The API calls from the Gloobox Capturer needed to be converted into corresponding calls compatible with the automation controller’s API protocol, enabling full automation of the Gloobox Capturer device. **Challenges** The user interface for the device had to manage a Gloobox Capturer appliance in the same manner as a traditional broadcast video server, providing a functionally similar interface to a typical ingest/playout server. This necessitated the development of a new microservice to bridge the gaps between the various APIs and handle the conversion of XML and SOAP communication formats. **The Xperity Solution** A newly developed microservice allows the device control and automation systems, or any compatible controller, to efficiently automate a Gloobox Capturer server using their preferred user interfaces. This Windows-based microservice facilitates straightforward XML and SOAP communications via raw socket connections. It translates messages between XML and SOAP formats and directs the requests and responses to the corresponding devices. **Implementation Process** Xperity utilized agile development methodologies to adopt best practices, leverage modern tools, and accelerate the building process: - Developed a background service using the FIMS standard that executes a specific API interface and translates the equivalent API calls for the Gloobox Capturer Server. - Employed socket programming and multi-threading to handle multiple command requests concurrently. - Implemented data marshaling and unmarshaling to enable translation between Java objects and XML formats. - Designed a configuration file format to allow for saving and editing the default properties of the microservice. - Utilized H2, a lightweight database, for certain commands to maintain and preserve the state of their objects. - Included detailed logging per channel to monitor command execution. **Core Technology Stack** - Simple Logging Facade for Java (SLF4J) - Framework for Interoperability of Media Services (FIMS) - Java Hibernate - Gradle - Eclipse - SOAP - RESTful API
