Modern Website for Sweden’s Largest Sushi Chain
Sushi Yama, established in 2008, has become Sweden's largest sushi restaurant chain, operating approximately sixty locations throughout the country and hosting its own training academy in Stockholm. In a competitive pitch involving several agencies, Wasabi Web, along with two Stockholm firms, made it to the final round, ultimately winning the project.
At the start of the project, several challenges were identified. One key issue was the need to integrate PinMeTo for all restaurant pages to ensure that each site provided accurate and current information, allowing users to easily locate nearby restaurants. Additionally, there was a need for a smooth integration of Yama Papers into the editorial workflow without losing its premium, magazine-style appearance. Another important goal was to showcase Sushi Yama’s impressive growth by creating new, unique, and SEO-optimized restaurant pages. Furthermore, the new website had to incorporate Sushi Yama’s revised graphic design and Brand Book into its web design.
To address these challenges, Wasabi Web set a clear goal: to enhance Sushi Yama’s digital presence through the development of a new WordPress website aimed at increasing traffic and aiding the brand's expansion and refresh. Part of this strategy was to improve the ease of finding specific restaurants across Sweden, which we accomplished by creating a user-friendly, searchable list with filters for delivery and dine-in options.
The outcomes speak for themselves, and you’re encouraged to visit Sushi Yama’s new website, which features a modern layout that embodies the brand's identity. The use of dark tones against a light background evokes the imagery of seaweed paired with rice, highlighting the relationship between the product and its design. The overall aesthetic is contemporary, elegant, and refreshing, aligning perfectly with Sushi Yama’s brand values.
