Design Lights Consortium
**Project: https://www.designlights.org**
**Overview**
The DesignLights Consortium® (DLC) is a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing energy efficiency, lighting quality, and overall human experience within built environments. To achieve this, the DLC certifies energy-efficient commercial lighting in accordance with strict standards. The organization not only establishes performance criteria for lighting but also frequently updates these standards to align with technological advancements. While the DLC is recognized globally for its leadership in lighting quality and control, its website did not adequately meet the diverse informational needs of its stakeholders.
**Solution**
The DLC collaborated with VND to completely redesign and enhance its web 2.0 platform with the aim of improving user experience for all stakeholders, including the organization itself. VND took on the challenge across various aspects, from creative development to design. We assisted the DLC in clarifying its brand identity, expressing it through robust design, and constructing a sophisticated yet user-friendly back-end system to serve all parties involved. Key features of the project included:
- Integration of WordPress CMS
- Extensive UI/UX improvements for a better user experience
- Implementation of WCAG 2.0 Accessibility standards
- Mobile-responsive design adaptable to any device
- Two-factor authentication
- Web APIs
- Support for AWS cloud environment, equipped with load balancers and multiple virtual machines.
**Results**
The revamped DLC website launched on August 2, 2021. With the new WordPress platform, the DLC is now able to provide a powerful, tailored portal for all its members and stakeholders, facilitating account registrations, management of multiple companies, addition of sub-accounts, and permission management. VND also developed custom APIs that streamlined business processes such as billing and product submissions for the DLC. Today, the DLC's updated website enhances back-end support for the organization itself and optimally serves its stakeholders, members, and users.
