Archbright’s mozzo Gets a UX-Driven Redesign

Project Type: Web Application Redesign Industry: HR & Workplace Services Project Services: UX Research, UX Design, Design System Development, Accessibility Compliance Archbright, a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving HR and workplace performance, collaborated with UpTop to refresh their member-exclusive web application, mozzo. Initially launched in 2021, mozzo had evolved organically, leading to an interface that no longer met current UX standards or accessibility requirements. Archbright aimed for more than just a visual update; they needed a user-focused redesign that would enhance usability, boost engagement, and comply with WCAG 2.2 AA standards—all while considering the constraints of the existing backend systems and a desktop-first approach. UpTop commenced the project with an extensive discovery phase to ensure alignment on business objectives, user requirements, and system limitations. Through a phased design sprint approach, they transformed key areas such as the dashboard, training library, and handbook builder. Additional tools like job description builders and claims trackers were also improved with a focus on accessibility and scalability. UpTop produced a refined, cohesive design system in Figma, featuring reusable components, mobile views, and comprehensive documentation to facilitate future development. Although the implementation is still in progress, Archbright is now equipped to provide a modern, engaging digital experience that enhances member value and supports future growth.

The aim was to develop a more intuitive, scalable, and user-friendly experience for machine operators of varying skill levels. Previously, operators faced difficulties with ambiguous legacy interfaces, especially during intricate tasks such as machine changeovers and fault recovery. Pearson required a solution that would enhance usability while also showcasing innovation to potential buyers. UpTop initiated a phased approach, beginning with workshops to assess user requirements and technical limitations, followed by the creation of a hybrid storyboard-based demonstration, which was improved with 3D animations and evaluated through Rapid Iterative Testing and Evaluation (RITE). The concluding phase provided design specifications to direct future development. The prototype included step-by-step support for changeovers, fault recovery tools, maintenance access, and customized dashboards, all designed to fit real-world operator workflows. It also featured multilingual support and high-contrast visuals for improved usability on the plant floor. The outcome was an engaging HMI demonstration that simplified training, minimized errors, and increased buyer confidence, positioning Pearson as a leader in HMI innovation and providing a scalable foundation for future machine integrations.
