I own a small, family-operated fencing business that focuses on supplying and installing a variety of fencing styles for both commercial and residential customers. I had heard positive feedback about Tricks Studio, and after a discussion with Gordon, I decided to participate in a growth strategy workshop they offered. Following the session with their team, I now have a well-defined understanding and a strategic plan to help my company reach new goals and elevate its success. Using Animation To Explain How Important Data Is

Agricultural

In any organization, maintaining security and connectivity is essential for effective operations, particularly in a large multinational company. However, the IT Department often goes unnoticed and unappreciated, and our client aimed to engage their employees. To assist Tell It Better in this endeavor, we conveyed their narrative using the metaphor of a road. The Opportunity: Our audience comprised a diverse global workforce of thousands, differing in cultures, time zones, ages, and attitudes towards technology. The messaging needed to resonate with both technophobes and technophiles, avoiding any condescension. To ignite passion for the topic, it had to evoke emotions, which can be challenging, especially concerning IT Networks. Nevertheless, by illustrating its relevance to their lives—highlighting benefits and providing a clear “why”—we often succeeded in convincing them. What We Did: We aimed to demonstrate how IT Networks impact the audience's daily lives and why this matters to them and the organization. Central to our explainer video was a straightforward metaphor: an IT Network is like a road, facilitating data transfer, managing traffic, and connecting people both virtually and physically. To enhance the film's relevance, we incorporated agricultural imagery and settings. The script was structured into three distinct chapters, allowing for the creation of shorter videos, each addressing specific topics, explanations, reasons, and calls to action in a well-organized format.

Educating About Health Issues Through Animation

Benecol

Benecol aimed to inform and train individuals on the various advantages of their product while ensuring the information remained engaging and easy to understand. To support this goal, we employed a mixed media format filled with characters, visuals, text, and graphs. The Opportunity: While many in the UK recognize the Benecol brand and its packaging from stores, few understand its significance or benefits. They saw a significant chance to highlight how their product aids in reducing cholesterol, but they were aware that traditional brochures or complicated websites wouldn't effectively capture attention. The animated video needed to convey sufficient depth to engage a Healthcare Provider (HCP) audience, including doctors, nurses, and dieticians, while also being accessible to the general public. What We Did: We crafted a creative style using a mixed media approach. Graphs and informative designs illustrated clinical study results, while photography and video showcased the people involved, and animated characters added life to the visuals—free from the constraints of reality. This allowed us to present detailed scientific content alongside emotional storytelling and charismatic charm, all while staying true to the brand's identity. The main video ran for several minutes, but during the script-writing phase, we segmented it into distinct chapters, enabling the creation of shorter clips from the main asset. The client was then able to utilize these specific chapters for marketing campaigns, social media, and follow-up retargeting efforts.

Explaining The Why Behind Tech With Animation

Our client, a prominent Fortune 500 company, is home to some of the finest talent globally, but they need to ensure that time is utilized in the most efficient manner. The effectiveness of software tools largely depends on the quality of the data entered. To enhance communication and clarity, we developed a series of animated explanatory videos aimed at inspiring and educating staff on the long-term benefits of these tools. The opportunity arose when our client relaunched their resourcing and people management tools in 2023, following updates to a prior version. These tools were implemented across the company, impacting nearly 100,000 employees and becoming integral to their daily operations. Through our briefing, we recognized the necessity to not only outline the individual tools, their features, and the benefits but also to address the overarching system they belong to. While employees needed guidance on the functional use of these tools, it was equally important to convey the emotional and rational reasons behind their implementation. Once employees understand the "why," they are more receptive to the "how." In every project, particular opportunities and limitations shape our approach, setting us apart as designers rather than mere artists. The Senior Vice President of this department wields considerable influence within the company, almost functioning as a key figure on their internal social media platforms. We leveraged his recognition, charisma, and personality to fulfill our client's brief of creating something entirely new. Our videos commenced with traditional live-action scenes, which eventually transitioned into animation featuring a unique representation of the leader through illustrations. This blend of video styles allowed us to harness the authenticity and relatability of live-action while embracing the creativity and possibilities offered by animation.
