E-commerce Infrastructure Migration for MercatoHub

MercatoHub

MercatoHub is a leading online retail platform in Nigeria that encountered a significant challenge: their on-premise infrastructure was unable to cope with the traffic surges during flash sales and seasonal shopping peaks. This resulted in frequent server failures, which caused revenue losses and negatively impacted customer satisfaction. Our team was assigned the task of creating a modern, "crash-proof" cloud setup. We implemented a gradual migration to DigitalOcean, employing a production-ready Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) to guarantee high levels of security and isolation. Key technical measures included: - Load Balancing: Utilizing DigitalOcean Load Balancers to smartly manage traffic distribution and prevent any single points of failure. - Asset Optimization: Transferring static content to DigitalOcean Spaces with a Global CDN, significantly alleviating server strain and enhancing page load times. - Reliability Engineering: Setting up automated backups, real-time monitoring, and proactive alert systems. The outcome was transformative for MercatoHub's operations. The platform now successfully handles busy sales events with complete stability. Additionally, we achieved a 45% decrease in infrastructure costs through more efficient resource management. Engineering teams can now concentrate on developing new features instead of addressing server problems.

Custom Software Development for Kognixia Academy

Kognixia Academy

Kognixia Academy, a leading EdTech company in South Africa, saw a rapid increase in users that soon surpassed their original monolithic server setup. As their platform grew from hundreds to thousands of students, they encountered slow performance, frequent downtimes during updates, and significant challenges in scaling their operations. We transformed their platform by moving to a cloud-native, microservices-capable architecture. By utilizing the DigitalOcean App Platform and Managed PostgreSQL, we automated the complex infrastructure management tasks, allowing the client to concentrate on providing education. Our approach included: - **Horizontal Scaling:** Refactoring essential backend services to enable real-time instance scaling based on student activity. - **Modern DevOps:** Creating a strong CI/CD pipeline to facilitate zero-downtime deployments, enabling multiple updates each day without disrupting the student experience. - **Data Reliability:** Transitioning to highly available Managed Databases to guarantee data integrity and automate recovery processes. **The Results:** Kognixia Academy successfully expanded from 500 to over 5,000 active users without any service interruptions. Deployment times were cut down from hours of manual labor to just minutes of automated tasks. The platform is now established as a robust, high-performing ecosystem that is set to lead the digital education transformation across Africa.
