Universal App Campaign Increased Downloads by 15%

TMI was charged with executing App Install campaigns along with an App Engagement campaign to enhance user retention. The main goal was to boost the client's market presence in the fashion sector, attract new customers, and maximize app revenue. **Goals and Strategy** We conducted a Universal App Campaign (UAC)* for both app installations and user engagement simultaneously to achieve the following objectives: - Increase app downloads with a maximum cost-per-install of ZAR1.85. - Generate extra in-app revenue aiming for a return-on-ad spend (ROAS) of 1400%. *Universal App Campaign – A type of advertisement in Google Ads that runs across the Search and Display networks and on YouTube, designed to encourage app installs and/or in-app conversions. These app ads utilize machine learning for automated optimization, targeting the most relevant users. **Results** *UAC for Engagement* By mid-March 2022, we transitioned the bid strategy for the UAC focused on mobile app engagement from targeting a cost per in-app action to a strategy aimed at in-app action value with a target ROAS. This adjustment proved effective, leading to a 14.72% increase in revenue and a 47.56% rise in ROAS over three months. While the aim was to enhance in-app action value with a specific ROAS target, app downloads declined. Nevertheless, we still achieved a substantial number of app installations at a cost per install that was 46.62% lower than the average for comparable retail apps in South Africa. *UAC for App Installs* The key performance indicator for the UAC for App Installs was to boost app installations at a cost per acquisition of R1.85. As we modified the bid strategy for the UAC for Engagement, the focus shifted towards existing users, enabling the UAC for App Installs to increase app downloads. With the new campaign strategy launched in March 2022, app downloads grew by 15.58% month-on-month at a CPA of R1.84, which is 77% below the industry standard for similar retail apps in South Africa.

As a newcomer to the fitness sector, the client required a partner to help establish their presence in a competitive market. The primary objective was to enhance their brand image and attract new customers. The Strategy We initiated our lead generation approach focusing on Google Search. Our starting point was to target high-intent keywords and align the campaigns with suitable audiences. As the brand and its audience developed, we integrated first-party data into our strategy. We also utilized a blend of brand and generic keywords, alongside a Dynamic Search Ad campaign, to determine the most effective online tactics for the brand. Subsequently, we expanded into Discovery campaigns and a Display campaign via Display & Video 360 to create top-funnel audiences, which we could later target with lower-funnel channels like Search. With a limited budget, we also tapped into Performance Max campaigns. The client provided striking visuals that typically perform well on visual platforms like Performance Max and Display, helping to boost awareness and engagement. To generate leads, we optimized a single campaign for effective placement across multiple platforms. Results In the first four months of the campaign, during which we used standard Search and Discovery ads, our cost per acquisition (CPA) increased. Our goal is to keep the cost per lead below $25. By the fifth month, we opted to scale the campaign for improved acquisition efficiency. We launched the Performance Max campaign, and almost immediately, we noticed positive changes. Our CPA decreased by 12% compared to the preceding month, surpassing our key performance indicator (KPI) by 18%.

The campaign, titled #DontGoBackToAbnormal, was designed to foster a healthier post-COVID lifestyle. Its objective was to encourage healthier eating choices by offering a one-time 50% discount through their app. Our role was to create excitement around the campaign, drive app downloads, and incentivize users to purchase something "Normal" using the 50% off voucher. **The Strategy** TMI developed a multi-channel campaign that utilized YouTube, display ads, and social media platforms. We aimed at an audience interested in healthy eating, as well as those inclined towards fast food but who had not yet engaged with our client. Emphasis was placed on increasing brand visibility and user interaction through a video featuring a message from the client's CEO, alongside a billboard creative from a competitor and a spotlight on an upcoming product. **Results** The campaign delivered above-average outcomes, surpassing the brand’s expectations, as we successfully generated significant gains in brand awareness and engagement.
