We collaborated with ACL Cables PLC, a leading cable manufacturer in Sri Lanka, to elevate their online presence into the contemporary era. Their original website was outdated in both design and functionality, lacking mobile responsiveness and ecommerce features. In today's landscape of prevalent online shopping, this was a significant drawback. Our objective was to create a modern, fully responsive website that not only showcased ACL's diverse product range but also enabled online purchasing. Utilizing essential customer feedback, we aimed to streamline the online shopping experience, enhancing features such as product previews, cart management, and a user-friendly checkout process. The refreshed design reflected ACL's position as market leaders, and the newly integrated ecommerce platform allows for an in-depth exploration of products, secure online payments, and options for installment plans in partnership with local banks. Additionally, we strengthened customer relationships by facilitating account creation, order history access, and simple inquiry submissions. By employing the latest web technologies, the site guarantees reliability, security, and exceptional performance. With this upgrade, ACL has reinforced their status as industry innovators, simplifying online product selection and purchasing for customers. Digitized Complaint Handling System

We collaborated with the Department of Labour in Sri Lanka, funded by UNDP, to transform an outdated, conventional complaint management system into a user-friendly digital platform. The previous manual method was cumbersome, requiring physical visits to the Department, which led to long queues and wait times—an inconvenience in today's digital era. Centering our approach on the end-users, Sri Lankan workers, we engaged in numerous brainstorming sessions with the Department. Combining the extensive expertise of both the Department and UNDP, our goal was to create an efficient, user-friendly online complaint system (www.cms.labourdept.gov.lk) to improve transparency and accessibility for submitting and tracking complaints. We integrated multiple interaction methods, including SMS updates and a web portal, to provide a comprehensive experience from complaint submission to resolution. Recognizing the significant change this digital transition represented, we conducted thorough user training across Sri Lanka’s varied languages to ensure accessibility for everyone. Following rigorous quality assurance tests and the creation of an in-depth multi-lingual user manual, we ensured a smooth transition to this digital platform for the Department. The result is a transformative system that significantly enhances the operational efficiency and transparency of the Department of Labour while empowering the public. Reporting and managing complaints has become streamlined, making the need for unnecessary physical visits a thing of the past. This crucial transformation, praised by the Commissioner General of Labour, highlights our commitment to advancing technology and improving public services. Looking ahead, the collaboration between TekGeeks, UNDP, and the Department sets a promising foundation for future digital initiatives.

An Election Reform Progress Tracker for Sri Lanka

We joined forces with PAFFREL, a strong supporter of democratic elections in Sri Lanka, to launch the Election Reforms Progress Tracker (www.slreforms.org). Funded by the National Democratic Institute (NDI) and USAID, this ambitious project aimed to enhance transparency and inclusivity in the oversight of electoral reforms. Our journey began with extensive collaboration with various stakeholders, including Transparency International Sri Lanka (TISL), the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka (HRCSL), CMEV, and others. By incorporating diverse viewpoints, we carefully developed a detailed System Requirement Specification, which provided a solid foundation for the tracker. A key aspect of our strategy was a strong commitment to accessibility, ensuring the platform was genuinely usable by all Sri Lankans, regardless of language or disabilities. Our focus on inclusivity garnered support from the Disability Organisations Joint Front (DOJF), affirming the universal appeal of our tracker. Our development team utilized PHP and CodeIgniter, working alongside designers to create a robust yet user-friendly interface that embodied inclusivity. Through rigorous quality checks and user training, we managed to streamline our delivery timeline without sacrificing quality. The transformative tracker now serves as a benchmark for tracking electoral reforms, allowing users to submit recommendations, monitor reforms, engage in polls, and identify responsible parties at each stage. Following its launch, we received widespread public praise, highlighting the project's success in enhancing transparency within Sri Lanka's democratic framework. PAFFREL's positive feedback reflects our commitment and expertise.
