HD Mapping for an Autonomous Driving Company
Self-driving cars perform optimally when they are well-acquainted with the road conditions and can predict other vehicles' actions, similarly to human drivers. To facilitate this, companies in autonomous driving invest considerable time, effort, and resources in creating high-definition (HD) maps. These maps add a semantic layer that allows for the identification of lane markings, road signs, crosswalks, traffic signals, and other critical features, ensuring the safe operation of autonomous vehicles. When a major US-based autonomous vehicle company sought a collaborator to assist in the creation, enhancement, and upkeep of HD maps for improved performance across various markets, they teamed up with us for the labeling of their HD maps, camera logs, photographs, videos, LiDAR point clouds, and more.
**The Solution** In collaboration with the client, we recruited and trained full-time staff dedicated to their HD map labeling requirements using the client's web-based tools. We established a thorough framework that encompassed hiring, training, HD map labeling, and quality management, which ensures that our team is well-prepared to deliver high-quality outcomes using a four-step HD map labeling procedure.
**The Results** As a result of these initiatives, we achieved significant outcomes that enabled the client to double their overall production rate, maintaining their position as a leading competitor in the autonomous vehicle sector while exceeding all key performance indicators.
