OUR STORY**BACKGROUND** Provide an overview of your business and your role there. I manage all communications for a private equity fund.
**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE** What issue were you aiming to solve with Shoot You? We needed to create a video using existing content from our portfolio companies to present at our annual general meeting (AGM), summarizing the year's activities. The goal was to ensure that the final product appeared polished and cohesive, despite being made up of various pieces of content.
**SOLUTION** What was the extent of their involvement? Shoot You produced a two-and-a-half-minute video that highlighted our team and showcased some key achievements. We repeated this for two consecutive years. It was challenging as we aimed to integrate pre-existing footage, while they filmed unique content of us at the office. Ultimately, we combined this new footage with existing videos and photos, bringing everything together under a unified presentation. They developed a format that allowed us to utilize our existing materials without incurring high costs. This video served as our introduction at the AGM for investors. Shoot You was responsible for the creative approach, while I ensured that the project managers had access to all necessary content, which they then used to offer their insights.
**Team Composition** I worked with two different project managers and met the CEO when I first discussed the project with Shoot You, along with Charlotte, who heads production.
**How did you come to collaborate with Shoot You?** My sister had worked at a company that had produced many videos with Shoot You.
**What was your investment in them?** The initial project cost about £10,000 (around $12,900 USD), while the second was approximately £6,000 (about $7,700 USD).
**Engagement Status** Our collaboration began in May 2018 and concluded with the last video in November 2019.
**RESULTS & FEEDBACK** What evidence can you provide to show the engagement's impact? My experience with Shoot You was very positive. The team effectively showcased our company’s attributes over the years, and everyone in the firm appreciated the videos. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the outcome. We are very satisfied with Shoot You and wouldn’t seek another partner for future video projects.
**Project Management Performance** I had the opportunity to meet the CEO, who stayed informed about our progress. If any specific challenges arose, he was readily available to address them. While there were some initial difficulties since we were unclear about our expectations, they still managed the process adeptly. Last year, we delivered some content late, but they were able to meet our deadlines efficiently. Each project manager had a distinct style; one was very communicative and reassuring, while both demonstrated effective project management skills. Charlotte was also very clear in her communication, ensuring we were always informed.
**What impressed you the most?** I appreciated Shoot You's level of preparation. Although we weren’t very experienced, we had a solid vision for what we wanted, and they executed it exceptionally well. We received numerous positive comments about the video during the AGM.
**Areas for Improvement** One aspect that could be improved is the establishment of firmer timelines. As the intermediary managing content retrieval from portfolio companies, I found that they weren’t always prompt. Having clearer timelines and working backward with stricter deadlines might have been beneficial. While we managed well initially, a bit more pressure from their side could have led to quicker content delivery. Consistency in project managers would have also helped, but I'm unsure if that was feasible.
**Advice for Potential Clients** Shoot You operates with professionalism and delivers effectively. They met our exact requirements, and the results were outstanding. They took varied content and transformed it into a cohesive product. I wouldn't recommend any changes, as they handled everything exceptionally well.
