Swyvl emerged from the real-world challenges faced by its founders, Alex and Laura Tolson. Alex, a mechanical engineer turned drone operator and 3D web specialist, witnessed firsthand how spatial data—from underground mines to remote reefs—was captured brilliantly but delivered poorly. Frustrated by traditional workflows involving cumbersome file sharing and inaccessible formats, Alex and Laura co-founded Lateral Vision in 2016 to develop immersive technologies bridging this gap.
