Web and Mobile Apps For Rehabilitation Provider
**SUMMARY** After acquiring a telehealth platform burdened with significant technical debt, the SPsoft team has delivered research and development services, technology consulting, and essential updates to the architecture and infrastructure to enhance the product's functionality.
**CUSTOMER PROFILE** This is a US-based start-up platform focused on physiatrist and recuperative care patients, aimed at optimizing and streamlining the treatment process. Instead of traditional doctor visits, patients receive customized recuperative exercise videos that medical professionals can modify and update. This emerging HIPAA-compliant telehealth initiative seeks to improve healthcare delivery.
**VALUE DELIVERED** We identified and resolved architectural and infrastructural issues that were hindering the product’s performance, scalability, and stability. Additionally, we addressed the technical debt left by the previous technology partner, paving the way for future product development. All necessary enhancements have been implemented, and our DevOps specialist is continuously monitoring and supporting the product’s service level agreement (SLA), responding to performance issues within an hour. The refactored code, along with the infrastructure and architecture upgrades, has resulted in zero DevOps incidents over the past six months. It's also notable that we transitioned to a Time & Material billing model, allowing the customer to prioritize and budget effectively.
**CHALLENGE FACED** We inherited a project that lacked a clear vision for improvement and product development, facing numerous performance obstacles that hindered its smooth operation and full commercial potential. The outdated iOS code did not meet current App Store requirements, and missing automated SSL certificate assignment and a custom referral program resulted in various legal and customer experience issues.
**THE PROCESS** In our troubleshooting approach, we tackle one issue at a time to ensure nothing is overlooked. Our consulting team excelled at diagnosing the root causes of the platform’s unstable performance. The SPsoft team collaborated closely to conduct thorough research and development on the product's architecture and infrastructure, ultimately uncovering opportunities for enhancement. After pinpointing weak areas, we developed a roadmap for further development. Our first priority was addressing the technical deficiencies left by the former technology partner, including a limited support agreement. We optimized the platform's infrastructure to eliminate redundancies and updated all external modules, databases, and components to their latest versions to maintain data security and HIPAA compliance. Our iOS developers then refactored the code to align with updated App Store requirements, and we enhanced the platform's architecture by adding the aforementioned custom referral program and automated SSL certificate assignment features. Through stringent research, analysis, and development, we effectively mitigated and ultimately resolved the platform's issues.
