OUR STORY**BACKGROUND** Please provide an overview of your company and your role. I am the Founder and Chief Product Officer (CPO) of COMMITLY, a company dedicated to enhancing cash flow management for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) across Europe.
**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE** What projects or services did your company engage Sprinterra for, and what were your objectives? We sought a flexible, skilled, and professional partner to develop offshore capabilities to accelerate the development of our software solution. We required a team with expertise in both backend and frontend development. Beyond development, we also needed professional project management to oversee documentation, project scope, resource allocation, and risk management.
**SOLUTION** How did you choose this vendor, and what influenced your decision? We had previously collaborated with offshore companies, but our experiences were mixed. Sprinterra came highly recommended by a trusted business associate who had successfully worked with them on larger projects. Please detail the scope of work including project phases, key deliverables, and technologies employed. The project involved designing the UI/UX of our solution in collaboration with our product management team. We aimed to create a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) using Django/Python for backend and Angular for frontend development. This included integrating machine learning algorithms we developed, managing the offshore team, implementing DevOps for our AWS infrastructure, API development, and creating microservices that connect with other services, including Zapier and Make.
**RESULTS & FEEDBACK** Can you provide any measurable results from the project or overall feedback on the deliverables? To date, we have developed 6,000 Jira issues and completed approximately 270 releases. Software development can be challenging, but whenever we encountered issues, the team was dedicated to resolving them promptly. Describe their project management approach, including communication tools and adherence to timelines. We followed Scrum principles in our software development process, which involved defining stories in Jira, outlining sprints, and grouping stories into releases. Our primary communication tools were Jira and Slack. Whenever we missed deadlines, the reasons were clearly communicated, and we collaboratively developed a contingency plan, prioritizing issues as needed.
What stood out to you about this company? Sprinterra is a deeply committed organization that feels like an integral part of our team, rather than just an external service provider. I am particularly impressed by how much they care for their team, which likely contributes to the low turnover we've encountered over the past five years. Are there any areas they could improve or do differently? We have been continuously working to refine our processes on a daily basis, and everything has been satisfactory in this regard!
