Numbots - Interactive app for child learning

Development, Design, and Implementation of a web-based game and mobile app Maths Circle approached us with a concept for a game aimed at young children to help them learn basic math skills. They already had a highly successful game called Times Table Rockstars, which is utilized in thousands of schools and enjoyed by hundreds of thousands of older children globally. The challenge was to develop an equally successful game that would introduce younger children, aged 5 and up, to addition and subtraction before they reach TTRS. The game needed to be extremely user-friendly, highly engaging, and compatible with hundreds of different devices that young children might use. Our Solution We developed the game as a custom web application utilizing ReactJS for the front end and Laravel Lumen for the API. This approach was crucial for several reasons. It allowed for the web application to be seamlessly converted into native apps for distribution through various app stores (Apple, Google Play, Amazon, etc.), eliminating the need to duplicate code and enabling quick and efficient updates. Additionally, this strategy offers impressive scalability. The lightweight front end works smoothly on any device, while the backend can accommodate hundreds of thousands of players. Key Features:

Energy Innovation Centre - Digital Transformation

The Energy Innovation Centre (EIC) was founded in 2008 as a global non-profit organization with a mission that extends beyond merely developing new or enhanced utility systems. Their commitment lies in fostering social advancement, enhancing people's quality of life, and ensuring a secure, affordable, and sustainable future for future generations. Collaborating with ten gas, electricity, and water utilities, along with the Energy Systems Catapult (ESC), the EIC serves as a link between industry and innovators. SOtech was tasked with creating a comprehensive platform that would support the business strategy, encompassing both a customer-facing interface and backend administrative functions for innovators and industries. Through several discovery and strategy meetings with key EIC stakeholders, we mapped out the full architecture for the two primary user personas. Each persona required a distinct user journey and set of features, while ensuring that all data synchronized across various logins. We decided to utilize a Laravel backend to construct the main database and platform framework, complemented by a Vue frontend to facilitate rapid and adaptable development of new pages and features. A crucial aspect of the platform is its ability to simplify communication and project management between both parties involved.

ddc NYC - Strategy, Build and Support

The project involved a comprehensive strategy, development, and user experience design using WordPress and WooCommerce for ddc, or Domus Design Collection, a premier provider of contemporary furniture. They offer an impressive selection of home and contract furniture, lighting, and accessories, with styles ranging from classic to cutting-edge designs available in their showrooms. Our task was to take initial concept designs from ddc’s creative agency and propose a complete solution for building and migrating to a new platform. The goal was to create a website with eCommerce capabilities (for both B2B and B2C), but initially, it would function as a brochure and experience site. We also needed to ensure that our design provided a straightforward way to take product data from ddc's global suppliers, allowing for fast and consistent product creation within the system. After careful evaluation, we decided on using WordPress and WooCommerce, as they provided the right blend of eCommerce features for the next 2-3 years while also offering great flexibility in user experience and design. Given ddc’s focus on creativity and design, it was crucial to realize their vision for the website's appearance and functionality. We developed a customized product importer tool that allowed ddc’s team to send templates to their suppliers for populating product data, facilitating easy import into the system for automatic product creation and merchandising. The eCommerce setup is fully prepared for checkout and payment processing; however, the main initial goal is to direct inquiries to their showrooms and sales teams. Overall, the website aims to generate leads through product pages as well as the brand and news sections, effectively telling the brand's story with dedicated brand pages and articles focused on design and interiors.
