PatientView
**OVERVIEW** PatientView is a digital platform designed for patients with specific medical conditions, providing them with current information about their illness, a way to monitor their medication, access test results, and communicate directly with their general practitioners. Initially launched as a pilot project a decade ago, it had begun to show signs of obsolescence. The Renal Association enlisted Solid State to revitalize the aging technology, preparing it for future medical advancements.
**CHALLENGE** Since its inception, PatientView evolved gradually, but by 2014 it had become a disjointed platform. It lacked a modern structure to support future growth and the interface was not user-friendly for mobile and tablet users. Our goal was to enhance accessibility for a wider audience. Empowering patients to view their medical information allows them to engage more actively in their treatment, potentially transforming their lives.
**SOLUTION** Solid State adopted an agile methodology, allowing us to prioritize features that were most important to both patients and healthcare staff. In 2015, PatientView 2.0 was launched and received positive responses. During this time, the original PatientView remained operational, enabling a phased migration of less frequently used features. The new platform had an immediate impact, facilitating faster and more cost-effective updates. Additionally, by redesigning the application, we expanded its applicability to new medical specialties and to patients without a specific specialty, as long as they could submit data. Solid State continues to be a reliable partner, consistently supporting and delivering new features. Currently, over 50,000 patients use PatientView.
