Our client, a major genealogy nonprofit, faced critical challenges with outdated foreign record databases hosted on failing computers. The obsolete hardware, inaccessible source code, and inconvenient server location caused slow response times for foreign record queries—up to 30 minutes—compared to nearly instant access for English records. STG stepped in to migrate this vital data to the main database server, simultaneously redeveloping the legacy application as a user-friendly web platform. Employing Agile methods with biweekly reviews ensured efficient collaboration and minimized revisions. This strategic upgrade allowed the client’s support team to access foreign records within seconds, matching their English record performance. Impressed by these results, the client extended STG's involvement to further enhance their database capabilities.
