Solution-Driven Design

Takuya Saeki is a freelance UI designer, art director, and web designer who graduated from the Japan Design Academy in 2002. Following his graduation, he gained experience at various advertising and design agencies before becoming the art director at KDDI Web Communications Inc. In this role, he managed the design of numerous print and digital marketing materials for clients like CPI and Jimdo. In 2012, he founded his design agency, "Smooth and Friendly," located in Shibuya, Tokyo, where he began refining his skills as an independent designer. As a freelancer, he has collaborated with numerous businesses to create websites, apps, magazine ads, catalogs, brochures, and flyers. In addition to his rich background in print and web design, Saeki focuses on collaborating with businesses in project planning, design concept development, visual direction, and branding. Recruitment site for a Japanese corporate interior

Social Interior Inc.

I was in charge of the design and art direction for the recruitment website of Social Interior Co., Ltd., which was completely revamped and launched in April 2025. **Client Requests and Requirements** Although the original corporate site had a recruitment page, the client wanted more detailed content, including employee interviews. Their main goal was to boost the number of applications coming from their recruitment page. **Content Enhancement and Proposals Using Wireframes** Upon receiving the content suggestions for the renewal, we developed wireframes which facilitated more focused discussions. To meet the client’s request for richer content, we asked for additional materials during the wireframe development. We then reassessed the content and layout, incorporating the new elements into the pages. **Proposed Design Direction** Although the company specified white and black as their corporate colors, we suggested introducing an accent color to enhance content visibility and create contrast. The client aimed to make a memorable impression on job seekers interested in startups or those highly committed to their professions. With this in mind, we proposed several accent colors, ultimately selecting orange. We featured orange vertical lines in the first view of each page and near headings, thoughtfully echoing the “I” letter and vertical line from the logo. This choice was intended to link the recruitment site with the corporate site for a cohesive identity. **Construction with an Eye on Post-Launch Operations** The interview sections were created using the blog functionality of WordPress, with some areas utilizing custom fields. **Scope of Work** This project encompassed a complete renewal, art direction, web direction, responsive design for both PC and smartphone, wireframe and sitemap creation, content and publication proposals, as well as progress and schedule management, coder coordination, and photography direction.

3D documents for manufacturing firms

Scene Inc.

I was in charge of designing the website for "Scene," a 3D assembly process digital transformation platform that was relaunched in January 2023. In factory assembly environments, processes normally follow manuals featuring instructions with photos and text. However, given the complexity of combining numerous parts, it can be challenging to clarify the intricate details of three-dimensional objects. Additionally, creating these manuals requires the tedious task of photographing each step during the assembly of a sample. When product components change, this process must be repeated, posing a significant issue. "Scene" utilizes 3D data, like CAD files, to streamline the creation of assembly manuals, enhance clarity, and simplify updates and history tracking. Since it directly uses 3D data generated during product design, there's no need to produce new 3D data for the manuals. We used existing content as our foundation and conducted interviews for supplementary information as needed. After developing basic wireframes and a sitemap, we began the design production. Due to the frequent updates and potential for future growth, we built the site on WordPress. We worked closely with the coder, managing timelines and quality control while addressing minor issues as they arose. As we needed illustrations that corresponded with the content, we arranged for an illustrator to be commissioned. The English fonts and color schemes were already predetermined, so the design and proposals adhered to these guidelines. On subpages, we prioritized conversion optimization while ensuring overall consistency across the site, even on regularly updated sections. The scope of work included a comprehensive redesign, art direction, illustration coordination, web direction, project and schedule management, coder collaboration, content publication proposals, sitemap creation, and responsive design for both desktop and mobile.

A technology provider company's website in Tokyo

LINX Inc.

I was in charge of the website redesign for Links Inc., which launched in November 2021, coinciding with a refresh of the corporate identity. The site included around 20 pages, and I was involved from the wireframing phase through to site architecture and content strategizing. The design was centered around the newly developed logo, corporate colors, and specified CI fonts, which were Genko Gothic and Avenir, both utilized as web fonts. We also created custom fields in WordPress to facilitate easy updates for various sections. I developed recruitment pages for both graduates and mid-career professionals, ensuring these pages matched the overall site aesthetic and provided seamless navigation. To prevent a cluttered text appearance, I intentionally used images, illustrations, and varied font weights throughout the design. Additionally, I was responsible for creating the English-language version of the site with unique content. We implemented responsive design across three device sizes: desktop, tablet, and smartphone. My responsibilities included comprehensive site renewal, photography direction, web direction, progress and schedule management, coder coordination, content and publication proposals, sitemap creation, and wireframe development.
