3D documents for manufacturing firms
I was in charge of designing the website for "Scene," a 3D assembly process digital transformation platform that was relaunched in January 2023. In factory assembly environments, processes normally follow manuals featuring instructions with photos and text. However, given the complexity of combining numerous parts, it can be challenging to clarify the intricate details of three-dimensional objects. Additionally, creating these manuals requires the tedious task of photographing each step during the assembly of a sample. When product components change, this process must be repeated, posing a significant issue. "Scene" utilizes 3D data, like CAD files, to streamline the creation of assembly manuals, enhance clarity, and simplify updates and history tracking. Since it directly uses 3D data generated during product design, there's no need to produce new 3D data for the manuals. We used existing content as our foundation and conducted interviews for supplementary information as needed. After developing basic wireframes and a sitemap, we began the design production. Due to the frequent updates and potential for future growth, we built the site on WordPress. We worked closely with the coder, managing timelines and quality control while addressing minor issues as they arose. As we needed illustrations that corresponded with the content, we arranged for an illustrator to be commissioned. The English fonts and color schemes were already predetermined, so the design and proposals adhered to these guidelines. On subpages, we prioritized conversion optimization while ensuring overall consistency across the site, even on regularly updated sections. The scope of work included a comprehensive redesign, art direction, illustration coordination, web direction, project and schedule management, coder collaboration, content publication proposals, sitemap creation, and responsive design for both desktop and mobile.
