Minimum Viable Brand for Hummingbird Drones

Hummingbird Drones

For many years, the fight against wildfires has relied heavily on large human teams and helicopters. Robert Atwood and Richard Sullivan identified that drones could reduce this dependence. They developed an infrared scanning technology capable of quickly and accurately processing vast amounts of footage captured by drones. Additionally, they conceived and created a crowdsourced platform that allows anyone to help identify emerging wildfires, aiding in their prevention before irreversible damage occurs. The final step was to share their innovation with the world. A successful brand begins with understanding its purpose and vision. Through our process, we established a verbal identity that provides the company with a solid foundation to unite its team around its core strengths and later convey this message to the public. After thorough discovery and multiple discussions with the Hummingbird Drones team, we clarified their vision: “Wildfires managed through the integration of advanced software and hardware.” With their verbal and visual identity established, Hummingbird Drones is poised for rapid growth, now equipped with clarity in their direction and the right tools to achieve their goals.

Alterna Haircare Web Launch

Alterna Haircare

Alterna is a high-end hair care brand in the United States that avoids using harsh ingredients and additives. Since its inception in 1997, the company has achieved significant success, largely due to efficient online sales through user-friendly e-commerce platforms like Shopify. Over time, Alterna developed strong partnerships with professional hair stylists who favored their products for salon use; however, their online store began to unintentionally compete with these stylist relationships. It became strategically beneficial for Alterna to focus on this stylist market, which served as influential distributors and advocates for their brand. Unfortunately, their current Shopify website posed challenges in shifting away from pure e-commerce. Consequently, Alterna reached out to Skyrocket for assistance in finding a new way to engage consumers without relying on direct online sales. The urgency for a swift pivot led our design team to devise a phased approach, prioritizing the creation of essential pages using standard design elements. In just six weeks, we successfully launched a visually complete site, though it was only 40% finished operationally. While this may seem like cutting corners, it exemplifies effective agile product development—launching, learning, iterating, and optimizing. The users remain unaware that the site is only partially complete; this is a detail we keep to ourselves.

Bluzelle Branding Project

Bluzelle

Located in Singapore, emerging blockchain company Bluzelle approached us to leverage our expertise in rebranding and launching their website, just a few months before their Initial Coin Offering (ICO) announcement. We quickly engaged with the founders and team at Bluzelle to gather as much information as possible. We complemented this with secondary research to create a solid knowledge base for our strategy. With the ICO date approaching, we aimed to balance strategic planning with actionable tactics. Rather than starting from scratch, we assessed successful organic marketing campaigns to inform our approach. Adhering to agile practices, we launched the revamped brand and new website within six months. However, we didn't slow down during this process—Bluzelle needed to actively participate in the blockchain community, fostering both online and offline engagement to generate positive discussions about their ICO. Within weeks, they were present at conferences with new banners, brochures, messaging, and presentations that showcased their evolving brand identity. On the day of the ICO announcement, everything came together as Bluzelle raised $19.5 million to advance their decentralized database technology. This isn't the last we'll hear from Bluzelle—expect to see their ecosystem powering data for future applications.
