MEG Military Energy Gum - Brand & Packaging Design
Revamping Military Grade Gum for Consumers
MEG, or Military Energy Gum, was founded in 1998 by a former gum chemist who created popular brands such as Big League Chew, Hubba Bubba, and Bubble Tape. Since its inception, Military Energy Gum has collaborated with the U.S. Military to combat fatigue-related injuries and fatalities. This gum serves as a quick and convenient source of energy for military personnel, law enforcement, and frontline responders.
Modernizing with Purpose
To refresh the brand and packaging, Seedhouse aimed to preserve elements that resonate with the target audience, such as the camouflage design, Department of Defense certification, and the MEG acronym, while giving them a more modern look. The camouflage pattern was updated to a contemporary digital style.
Incorporating Military Design
The brand's logo features a bold, proud design reminiscent of military insignia, particularly with the letter “E” reflecting military stripes. The typography on the packaging echoes military documentation. Iconic elements include the American flag to convey patriotism and design motifs like shields and badges that evoke squadron patches.
Enhancing Experience and Flavor
The vibrant flavor colors reflect the intensity of the taste while maintaining the previous color schemes to avoid alienating existing fans. Ultimately, the newly designed packaging system looks perfectly suited for a range of uses, from a go bag and gym bag to a kit bag or assault pack.
