Poland's Largest Vintage Marketplace in Medusa

Patyna

Patyna is an online vintage shop that focuses on furniture and retro decor, facilitating the buying, selling, and donating of items. The client's platform was initially developed using WooCommerce but was hindered by outdated code, resulting in slow loading times and difficulties in further updates. The growing number of products and users added strain to the website, causing issues for sellers trying to upload listings and images. To address these challenges, we decided to transition the vintage furniture marketplace to a new platform utilizing Medusa.js, Next.js, and Strapi. This important move allows us to handle a high volume of products and sellers while ensuring the website's performance and stability. Medusa.js, being a headless solution, provides enhanced control over content display and user interactions. This migration has positioned the website to meet future business growth demands more effectively, enabling us to implement innovations, personalize the user interface, and optimize performance—all essential aspects given the increasing number of products and users. Migrating Natuja from Sharetribe to Medusa

Natuja

Natuja is a marketplace based in the DACH region that focuses on natural products. Initially, they employed Sharetribe as their marketplace platform, which served their early requirements. However, as the business grew, they encountered several challenges. From the outset of our collaboration, Natuja's founder was highly impressed by the advantages of the Medusa platform and showed interest in switching to it. The choice of Medusa for migration was driven by a need for greater flexibility and control. As the client expanded, the limitations on source code access hindered the implementation of specific features, making it both difficult and expensive. We decided on the following technology stack: - Medusa.js and Mercur.js Marketplace Accelerator for a flexible platform foundation, which helped reduce implementation time by four weeks. - Next.js for a fast and responsive frontend experience. - Node.js combined with Medusa Backend to support advanced features and handle high traffic volumes. - Deployment on Vercel and DigitalOcean to ensure excellent performance and scalability. - Stripe Connect for automated payment processing and tax management. - Meilisearch for enhanced search and filtering capabilities. - Mailchimp and Sendgrid for marketing and email communications. - New custom functionalities introduced included allowing vendors to manage shipping costs based on region and weight, offer free shipping, utilize custom product attributes, and develop a review system. As a result, the migration to Medusa.js successfully brought over 150 vendors and nearly 1,000 products onto the platform, achieving faster loading times and laying the groundwork for future feature enhancements.
