e-commerce Marketplace System Testing
E-commerce testing must take a comprehensive approach, encompassing various aspects such as functionality, integration, usability, security, performance, database, and mobile applications. Our methodical QA process involves creating test plans, test cases, and test scripts, documenting test outcomes, and utilizing testing tools. The process begins with formulating an effective Test Strategy and Plan, applying consistent design techniques for crafting test cases, selecting appropriate tools for test design and management, automating where beneficial, and ensuring a smooth workflow in Test Execution and Test Reporting. The team has defined test scenarios and outlined a structure for organizing the test scripts, reusable libraries, object repository, and test results. We planned for complete test coverage through functional, integration, cross-platform, and cross-browser testing, ensuring timely deliverables through proper planning. A data-driven automation framework was established using the object repository, libraries, and Excel sheets for necessary input data. Our team integrated UFT with ALM, enabling ALM to serve as a single source of truth that holds requirements, manual test cases, RTM, defects linked to the relevant test cases, automated test cases, and custom reports. With the automation of most functional end-to-end test cases, the team could concentrate on testing the integration of the site with other systems, like the payment gateway. The high level of automated functional test cases also allowed our testers to focus on other testing types such as Usability, Database, Security, and Compatibility testing. The team ensured testing was performed on the latest supported desktop browsers and mobile platforms. With over 90% automation of functional test cases, along with comprehensive testing across all areas, this remains one of the most extensive test coverage achievements by the QA Mentor team.
