BACKGROUND: Please describe your company and your role. The National Investment Center for Seniors Housing & Care (NIC) facilitates access and choice by providing data, analytics, and connections among investors and providers. As the Senior Director of Corporate Communications and Marketing, I oversee all marketing efforts and was responsible for the project we undertook with Pumex.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE: For what projects/services did your company engage Pumex Computing, LLC, and what were your objectives? We hired Pumex to create a new networking portal, or "community connector," to help our primary constituents develop and engage with a professional network during the pandemic when in-person events, such as conferences and sales meetings, were not feasible.
SOLUTION: How did you select Pumex Computing, LLC, and what factors influenced your decision? We chose Pumex partly due to their strong communication skills, quick response times, and quality execution, which we experienced throughout our project. Moreover, we found Pumex to be very open to collaboration; they even offered a modified pricing model that was advantageous based on project development.
Describe the project's scope in detail, covering the steps, key deliverables, and technologies utilized. The community connector was developed using Salesforce Community Cloud and linked to our Salesforce instance. The portal included features such as logic-based profile and directory management, payment processing, and social/communications networking, along with UI/UX support. We operated in two-week sprint cycles to develop, test, demo, and deploy each iteration. This regular rhythm of meetings for sharing requirements, updates, and development reviews ensured we stayed on track and could move quickly.
How many people from the Pumex Computing, LLC team collaborated with you, and what were their roles? The Pumex team consisted of various disciplines, including a Business Analyst, Project Manager, and several developers. Pumex’s leadership, including President Chris Scirpoli, was highly involved during the project's execution, contributing to its success.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK: Can you provide measurable outcomes from the project or general feedback on the deliverables? At launch, around 30% of our usual audience logged into the platform, created profiles, and made connections.
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness. Communications were clear and frequent. The time zone differences did not hinder progress or conversations. Information was provided both in writing and verbally, depending on the communication purpose. We regularly utilized video conferencing, a messaging app, and email for correspondence.
What impressed you the most about this company? Their leadership involvement, thorough communication, and high-quality development distinguished Pumex from others.
Are there areas for improvement or things they could do differently? N/A.
BACKGROUND: Please describe your company and your role. I am the CIO of a medical certification organization that certifies over 150,000 individuals globally.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE: For what projects/services did your company hire Pumex Computing, LLC? We needed to quickly expand our development staff to accommodate turnover and increase workload while also seeking deeper talent than what was readily available to us.
SOLUTION: How did you choose this agency, and what were the deciding factors? They provided valuable guidance on the necessary personnel to address our described problems and demonstrated flexibility in terms and competitive pricing for the resources we required. Their extensive knowledge in the nonprofit sector also positioned them well to offer further insights as we collaborated.
Detail the project stages. They supplied a senior developer dedicated almost entirely to a time-sensitive integration project, along with a QA engineer and a Business Analyst to help document and build a more robust automated QA framework, which enhances our coding output.
Explain the recruitment process. I had a direct meeting with the President of Pumex to discuss our business and needs. We talked about contracts and pricing, and soon after, Pumex shortlisted candidates for us, allowing for quick onboarding.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK: Can you share any outcomes from the engagement that show progress or success? We met our deadlines and improved our documentation and QA workflows for our development team. Some of this work is still ongoing, but the demonstrated quality will allow us to explore new areas in the future.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs? The time zone differences remain a challenge. As a fully remote team, our meeting load is usually high, limiting the time for collaboration with offshore resources. However, generally, the teams have blended well and provided excellent value.
What impressed you most about this company? Their transparency and responsiveness stand out. It's easy to reach key personnel within the organization for meaningful discussions, fostering trust and opportunities for both parties.
Are there areas for improvement or something they could do differently? None. We are very pleased with our collaboration.
