An online platform for art and ideas
The Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney stands as Australia's premier institution for showcasing, collecting, and interpreting contemporary artwork. Our task was to make modern art and ideas easily accessible to diverse online audiences. However, such a broad objective raised the question of where to begin. As with all our projects, we initiated our process with a discussion—a structured dialogue in the form of a Project Context workshop. During this workshop, our team explored and documented our preliminary understanding, then engaged with our clients to gain insights into additional considerations and uncertainties, ensuring the project was well-informed from the start. With a clearer grasp of the museum’s vision and goals, we developed a deep appreciation for the varied audiences and stakeholders our approach needed to address. To secure support from stakeholders, we articulated a vision and strategic direction that outlined our approach to branding, accessibility, architecture, and the management of the diverse artworks to be displayed. This ensured all participants had clarity and confidence in our direction. Through a series of interactive co-design workshops, we collaborated with MCA staff and artist advisory groups to refine the key concepts for the site.
