OUR STORY
During a meeting with a community leader, Overscan showcased mockups for a new website. When demonstrating accessibility by navigating the current site using the iPhone’s VoiceOver screen reader, it became clear how difficult the experience was for users reliant on such tools. The community leader was surprised to realize that many people struggle with inaccessible websites, highlighting that despite discussions about inclusion, web accessibility is often overlooked. Overscan recognized that the challenge isn't resistance but invisibility—difficulty isn’t always obvious online, unlike physical barriers. They emphasize that accessibility is more than a legal duty; it’s about respect, and integrating it from the start, through simple methods like proper HTML structure and color choices, is cost-effective and essential.
