STRABAG is a technology group headquartered in Europe that specializes in construction services and is recognized for its innovation and financial robustness. With a workforce of over 75,000, STRABAG stands out as one of the few companies capable of providing comprehensive services throughout the entire construction value chain, which includes design, planning, construction, property and facility services, operation, and demolition. The BMS (Building Material Solutions) team at STRABAG is in the process of creating a data center for the Group’s Building Materials Business Unit. This web application consolidates and visualizes real-time data from 13 different ERP systems spanning the entire STRABAG consortium. Users can access this information anytime and from anywhere, including through smartphones and tablets. The application serves the majority of the 566 building material production sites, covering areas from quarries to landfills and asphalt to concrete mixing plants. The initial modules were launched in June 2019, thanks to a dedicated team and an agile project management approach. Previously, STRABAG’s production operations relied on various software applications, complicating data integration. The new data center and digital cockpit aim to create a shared resource that automatically gathers data from different programs. In terms of benefits, XL Deploy and XL Release are specialized products within the DevOps field that utilize a specific technology stack, which includes Scala, Akka, and the React framework, among others. Agency04 continues to supply skilled software engineers in these niche technologies, establishing itself as the leading global development center for XL products. The result of these efforts is the development of a digital cockpit solution, allowing users to access pertinent data anytime and from anywhere via smartphones or tablets.

1WorldSync

A cloud-based platform for product content is utilized by over 20,000 companies across more than 50 countries to share reliable and accurate information with both partners and consumers. Overview: The European Travel Retail Confederation (ETRC) advocates for the interests of Europe’s duty-free and travel retail sector. Since 2017, ETRC has partnered with Atrify, now part of 1WorldSync, to create a digital labeling solution. Suppliers are required to present product details to consumers in an accessible format and in various European languages. The Deutsche Pfandgesellschaft GmbH (DPG) plays a key role in ensuring the efficient operation of the beverage industry’s packaging deposit system and has established a central database to comply with the German Packaging Act. Atrify supports this initiative by providing the “DPG System database” (DPG Stammdatenbank). Challenges: ETRC Project: Developing a web platform for consumers to access regulatory information on travel retail products in 24 European languages via their smartphones. DPG Project: The DPG System database manages the collection and deposit clearing for one-way beverage packaging subject to compulsory deposits. Benefits: Transitioning from an outdated tech stack burdened by technical issues to a well-structured application built on Spring Boot and Angular, which simplifies the complexities of the previous system while preserving its functionalities and historical data. The new DPG system, nearing its 11th release, will comply with ISO 27001 standards, enhancing user experience and streamlining DPG processes. Outcome: Notch & Atrify/WorldSync have developed an application based on Spring Boot and Angular, employing an Agile methodology with components of the Scrum framework. This application meets legal standards and allows suppliers to communicate product information to consumers in multiple languages.

Digital.ai is a leading technology firm focused on assisting Global 5000 companies in achieving their digital transformation objectives. With value stream management as its foundation, Digital.ai integrates advanced technologies in agile planning, application security, software delivery, and artificial intelligence into a cohesive Value Stream Platform. **Overview** XL Release is an enterprise software that coordinates release processes. It enables users to plan, monitor, and implement release strategies from code deployment to user delivery. By tracking pending tasks, risks, and dependencies, it proactively prevents release delays and failures. The software accelerates the delivery timeline by automating tasks and standardizing release plans, replacing manual processes. Our team is a key component of a globally distributed network of skilled engineers. We have expanded our team from one to 15 members (and counting), supporting the platform's sales growth internationally. **Challenges** The Digital.ai XL Deploy and Release teams are spread across various locations, including the US, the Netherlands, and India. However, Agency04 engineers have stepped up as team leads for their client-side colleagues. The client required specific technological expertise, particularly in Scala and Akka, which were rare skill sets essential for their expansion. **Benefits** XL Deploy and XL Release are specialized products in the DevOps sector, built on a distinct technological stack that includes Scala, Akka, and the React framework, among others. Agency04 continues to supply proficient software engineers in these niche technologies, establishing itself as the premier global development hub for XL products. **Outcome** By partnering with Notch as a dedicated team provider, XebiaLabs has risen to become a leader in the Gartner magic quadrant and has merged with other prominent DevOps companies to form Digital.ai, the top value stream management platform. Although the project is still ongoing, the sustained efforts have solidified XL's leadership position in the DevOps market.
