Web Design & Development - YMCA-NL
The YMCA has been an integral part of Newfoundland and Labrador since 1854, operating as a charity focused on enhancing community foundations through core programs in Health, Fitness, and Aquatics; Child Care and Day Camp; and Employment, Enterprise, and Newcomer Services. Previously, the YMCA of Newfoundland and Labrador had a website that was over seven years old and lacked a content management system, which made content updates labor-intensive and required skills in FTP, HTML, and PHP. Additionally, the site was not mobile-friendly, despite mobile devices accounting for over 56% of their traffic. We developed a new, responsive website using WordPress that features a modern and clean design, and provides scalability as YMCA-NL expands its reach throughout the province. The site employs color coding to differentiate content by region and utilizes breadcrumbs to help visitors navigate easily. Users no longer need to download PDFs for program guides, now presented in color-coded text-based tables. As a result of these enhancements, overall site traffic has doubled, organic search traffic has increased by over 200% compared to the same time last year, and visitors now spend three times as long on the site.
