Making NEW Possible

NEWaukee was established in 2009 by a group of friends who organized meetups for newcomers to Milwaukee. Motivated to enhance these experiences, we expanded our efforts to host dynamic events that highlighted the city and attracted large crowds. Businesses recognized our success and began reaching out to see how NEWaukee could help foster a similar sense of community for their brands. Throughout the last ten years, we've utilized our engagement strategies to assist top brands in connecting more effectively with their audiences.

Since 1919, Baird has been providing reliable financial guidance and services to individuals, families, and institutions worldwide. With a workforce of over 4,500, Baird is dedicated to fostering an inclusive and diverse environment where all employees can thrive. To enhance its culture of inclusion and diversity, Baird launched an Associate Resource Group (ARG) program featuring seven unique offerings. They collaborated with NEWaukee to expand this initiative, aiming to develop their leadership, engage ARG members and volunteers, and align the ARG strategies with overall firm goals. NEWaukee designed a customized, full-day interactive leadership summit for ARG co-chairs and their executive sponsors, allowing them to learn best practices together and set new goals and strategies for the upcoming year. The summit also provided a chance for incoming chairs to engage in the planning process six months before officially taking on their roles. Co-chairs took part in various team-building activities that fostered new relationships and open communication among ARG leadership. Fast-paced, hands-on workshops facilitated shared learning and strategic planning using tailored worksheets and resource guides that highlighted best practices for ARGs. The results included generating 1,608 new leads for talent acquisition, achieving over 73,802 social media impressions, attracting participants from 10 countries and over 30 U.S. states, and enhancing engagement among current Kohler Co. associates. During the COVID-19 pandemic, NEWaukee adapted The Shift to a virtual format while maintaining attendance levels comparable to pre-pandemic results. NEWaukee also created additional public DEI programs for Kohler Co., including Leading Courageous Conversations.

Black Minds Matter

Black Minds Matter (BMM) is a nationwide initiative focused on celebrating Black intellect, fostering excellence, and enhancing the availability of high-quality educational options for Black students. It aims to unite a national network of Black school founders and leaders, facilitating opportunities for networking and professional development. BMM seeks to engage Black school founders and nurture their distinct professional communities by fostering individual connections with like-minded peers, providing access to educational resources, and advocating for educational freedom and parent empowerment in schools and communities. This aligns perfectly with our mission at NEWaukee, which strives to cultivate diverse, vibrant communities through impactful experiences. Since January 2022, NEWaukee has directly overseen BMM's engagement initiatives. This encompasses connecting with Black school founders and managing graphic design, social media (both organic and paid), event planning and execution, community outreach, and network administration. Outcomes from the National Black Founders Network include: • 104 members in the network • 7 new podcasts featuring school founders across three regions added to the asset library • A growth of over 160 Facebook followers • The inaugural National Black Founders Summit in Atlanta, Georgia, which attracted more than 70 attendees, including representatives from the oldest Black-owned school in the U.S. and featured acclaimed speakers like Dr. Steve Perry.
