VaiKai

The goal of this project was to transform the VaiKai product into a smart toy utilizing BLE technology. Employees from needCode incorporated BLE capabilities into the existing client software and updated the current implementation to include all necessary BLE functions. The work encompassed most features related to firmware versions 0.1 and 0.2 from the Vai Kai Companions, which included interaction specifications and user stories. The innovative needCode team took on the task of modernizing VaiKai into a smart toy. By harnessing BLE technology, they enhanced the client software, integrated essential BLE functionalities, and ensured compliance with current requirements. The team’s commitment resulted in the transformation of VaiKai into the “VaiKai SmartPlay Doll,” highlighting the impact of strategic technology integration, effective communication design, and user-focused feature implementation. VaiKai's shift into a smart toy reflects the team’s dedication to innovation and technological progress in children's toys. Additionally, we demonstrated our capability to successfully complete the project despite challenges posed by less-than-ideal hardware choices and limited time and budget constraints.

Customizable Remote Control (Qorvo’s Chip)

The client, a company focused on consumer electronics, aimed to develop a Remote Control for STBs that would be packed with features and suitable for both traditional TV and Internet television users. Their goal was to combine BLE, ZigBee, and infrared technologies to ensure smooth connectivity and management of various devices. A key requirement was to provide a simple default application through an SDK, enabling users to set up and control a wide range of devices with the RC. The productive partnership between the needCode engineer and the client led to the creation of a feature-rich Remote Control for STBs. By utilizing Qorvo’s chip and integrating BLE, ZigBee, and infrared technologies, the RC enabled seamless connectivity and control over multiple devices.
